Fascinating SciFi Gemsigns by Stephanie Saulter Starts A Series That Should Prove Outstanding...

The Syndrome arrived in the first decades of the twenty-first century, slipping unnoticed into virtually every human community on the planet. It revealed itself gradually, via a slow increase in neurological disease among the young. In the west it was generally diagnosed as a particularly pernicious and difficult form of epilepsy, presenting shortly after puberty, refusing to be outgrown and causing more and more damage until the patient was wheelchair-bound and catatonic, usually before their thirtieth birthday.
In rapidly developing countries it was variously identified ass brain damage due to high pollution levels, a neurological reaction to industrial poison, or mental illness caused by parental absence as families creaked under the strain of upward mobility. It was slowest to take hold in the most deprived regions of Africa, but even where cell webtech was only just beginning to shift populations out of abject poverty neighbors saw it strike down the children of the most successful, and ascribed the new madness to the jealous application of witchcraft. The variation in presumed causes and apparent characteristics, and errors in prognosis and estimates of prevalence, delayed its identification as a unique globally distributed disorder for almost twenty years.
The incidence of the Syndrome mapped perfectly onto the worldwide growth of what the previous century had dubbed information technology. It occurred where children had, from infancy, been exposed not only to a plethora of computing and communication devices, but to the immense load of interactions, analysis and responses they demanded...

Gemsigns:
(R)Evolution Book 1
By Stephanie Saulter

A worldwide Syndrome has placed the entire world on the same level...There has not been wars for many years and race, religion, and other issues have been ultimately accepted as world-wide. Oh, sure there are some who have not accepted things. The Godgangs being one of those who has their own plans at this time. Their message is not much different that it has been in the past...

During the time of the Syndrome, Gemtechs became much more involved in genetic engineering. Natural procreation could resume and instead of stopping this program, the companies went on to the creation of "specialists" to handle specific needs...

The way was clear for specialist
gens to be created; gems hyper-
designed senses of smell and taste
for toxic waste detection; gems with the
strength, lung capacity and altitude
tolerance for mountaintop mining,
gems who could breathe underwater...
~~~
As society stabilized and slowly began to recover, genetic engineering objectives became more focused. After over half a century of crisis, natural procreation would resume. The vast scientific and technical capacity that had rescued the human race found itself in danger of becoming redundant. Those bright minds looked out on a landscape of need and saw opportunity.  They redeployed to commercial production. The original gems had been crude, brute-force laborers, but their impact on both science and society had been immense. The bioengineering conglomerates, the gemtechs, had learned more from the unconstrained experimentation of their manufacture than they ever could have from the focused fight against the Syndrome. The public were accustomed to gens being the default resource for work deemed difficult or dangerous' indeed, having grown up wit the arrangement, the Syndrome orphans found it in no way strange.
It was something about her littleness and delicacy
of bone structure, her excessive prettiness and the
shyness with which she carried it...
He was struck by her hair. It was shoulder length
and stylishly cut, but the dull, matte-black color
was at odds with her modish grooming and
fashionable clothes. He considered whether it
was a wig or a dye job, decided on dye. A wig
might slip, and besides, if this woman had
decided to take such a risk she have chosen a
better wig. No, she'd dyed her hair, poured on
layers of layers of light-barring pigments and
fixatives to block the telltale gem glow.  He
wondered what color it really was. A gentle
rose pink maybe, or pale lilac...
~~~
        If you haven't guessed what has happened now, I'm surprised... Of course, the gems have been around long enough to begin to see they are not very different from those that are called, "humans..."

In fact, other than their being created by gemtechs, and given special abilities or designed for specific jobs, they could see no difference... So, why were they owned???

And naturally as it would be from such an enlightened society that existed at that time... there was a confirmation of equality and a conference was established with an expert designated to put together what in essence would be voted on at the conference...

Eli had not even finished his report and was heading to talk with gems when he was approached by a representative of one of the gemtech companies. He had no desire to begin to negotiate with either side, but he was willing to listen...which he did, and accepted her presentation, parts of which are provided above.

In many ways, readers will visualize what has occurred over and over in history as people fight to be accepted for their race, religion, etc. Gems are, themselves, so widely different though--imagine being a woman who was to be a "baby-maker" who is impregnated over and over while the babies are immediately taken and passed on to somebody else.

Or imagine a gem who has been mentally enhanced and has a major skill set for being an engineer, but is now faced with the possibility of competing with "norms" who do not have the advantage of the gem's intelligence. Obviously, norms will feel they are losing jobs that should be theirs...

Yes, much will sound familiar...

But then, there are those who have been engineered to fight in wars...or some who had never had to socialize with anybody... But no matter what you may consider for the ending...it will not be what actually happens!

The book has much to intrigue readers as they explore an entirely new and different set of humans who are actively seeking freedom and recognition. Book 2 is already out in the UK... Start with this first one! Anybody who loves scifi is going to love this! Don't miss it!

Brilliant Story From Future - Reader by Ambra [Through Erec Stebbins...] Ambra Dawn Visits!

 "Amazingly, standing in the doorway were two human beings. They were dressed in robes not too different from our own—thicker, more worn, with strange markings across the back. They were likely in their twenties, although they looked  older. As I was to learn, life for humans in space under alien care was shorter than on Earth, full of many more health  problems and complications. Most of us did not live beyond forty years, and by the time we hit our thirties, we looked  sixty. A moment of hope and relief swept through the group  of children. It was quickly dashed as the men spoke.
 “No words,” one barked. “You will do as you are told and prepare to serve the Sortax.
 "This is a training vessel, and you will be instructed in guiding the navships to the Orb portals. Nothing else matters to your existence. If you cannot perform, you will be discarded. You are to report to us or other Human Shepherds. Under no circumstances are you to attempt any contact with non-human residents of any ship. Follow us to your quarters.” They turned, and marched from the door, leaving us stunned and empty. One by one, we stood up, stretched our sore bodies bounced by the trip through Earth’s atmosphere, and walked through the door to our new life.
~~~
"In the beginning, we were subjected to simulations. Always, it was the same. From a disembodied point of view, I would see myself approaching a sphere of light of great complexity.
"To call a real Orb a sphere is a distortion, as the word suffers from the biased view of humans and aliens who cannot see it as I do—the substructure, layers upon layers not unlike an onion, but casting out in independent dimensions beyond the three we perceive with our eyes. My mind’s other sense could see in these directions, and the Orbs were more like infinite webs whose projection in three-space was a humble sphere. The simulations captured only a faint aspect of this— only when we approached a true Orb did its beauty become apparent to me.
"Our training sims were not focused on the Orbs, however, but on the tendrils, the glowing Strings that spread from them. The Strings extending from a true Orb traveled in many dimensions, but the sims captured only those that were in the visual three dimensions, and it was along these lines that we were to direct the point of view, the ship in reality, when the time came to navigate in earnest. We would spend hours guiding little simulated spaceships onto the tendrils, one after another after another. What I would find out later is that the galactic hegemony of the Dram was established through using the tendrils to travel through space-time. The Strings could be used as tunnels, shortcuts between any two Orbs, cutting the travel time between stars and planetary systems from eons into days. I did not understand how this happened or why these Orbs had been placed where they had. For the present, all that mattered was mastering the ability to help the ships navigate.
Reader
By Ambra Dawn
My time may be short; I have not attempted to communicate with this new, female human before, but she is very receptive to my story. I watched as I she cried, seeing what the doctors first did to me while I was still on earth. My mother was the only human female I intimately knew, but now, having this woman cry for me, I feel a new strength and I pray that other females with such empathy will know my sorrow, read my story, and will be moved to act... There is really no way to describe the pain of what they did. My only reality, now, allows me to look back with gratitude to the doctor who risked his life--and allowed my brain to grow... Now it is our only hope...Your only hope...
I'm using every means possible to reach out to humans on earth. This female listens with her heart so that I can write more from my heart. Erec Stebbins listened with his brilliant scientific, but, thankfully, compassionate mind... But this is the last communique for now... My Story, Writer, will be my last attempt... Please look for it soon...
Still, I am so alone now and seeing them murder my parents will never leave me. One day I will find those responsible and when I do... Even knowing my parents would not want me seeking revenge I cannot and will not forget! My parents were so wonderful--they both had special gifts. It must be that I was blessed with their gifts combined...but that didn't help when they discovered the tumor on my brain. They lied to my parents and told them it would be removed--explaining that was why I had to go with them. Since then I've found that children all over the world have been taken...I'm not alone but that doesn't help much since nobody is still alive who cares for us... Thus my attempt to reach into the past, to help prepare you for what is coming. Earth will be destroyed if you don't read my words!
That tumor? They never removed it... Instead, what they did was to open the back of my head and encase the tumor, allowing it to grow as big as it would. They just kept changing the size of my head! At least a lot of my hair grew back and most of it covers what I really look like, but you can say it--I don't mind--I look weird! I look like I am no longer a human. But I was born on earth and loved our planet so much...
That's why I've been so desperate to reach those who can help--those from the past...you, who can, if you wish, read my story and learn what is going to happen! Please! You who read books, please read mine.
I, too, am a Reader... but, it is quite a different type of activity for me... My reading takes people from one place to another--from a planet to another planet... My brain is special--even among other readers so that I am able to also read the future and the past... Most of the readers have some psychic abilities that are used to navigate ships out in space. We learned how to drive, using our minds. But, the thing is, we are treated as slaves--not as somebody who can provide a valuable service! In fact, all humans everywhere are now enslaved...
The universe is so much bigger than anything we ever knew about there on earth. Orbs are located near certain highly populated planets and these are used to relocate much more quickly than anything developed on earth. In fact, you will, I am sure, have never heard of an orb, so I wanted you to have a look at how beautiful they are, even if they seem mysterious and so very strange...
We all walked quietly in our thin robes, cold and afraid.
Several kids could be heard sobbing, and one or
 two broke down and refused to enter. The response from the
Sortax was rapid and harsh. They would extend a dark
 rod towards the child who would then scream in pain and collapse.
 The Sortax would command the child to move forward in line,
 and, after that pain, each did. Inside, it became clear how
 alien we actually were. The ship was designed, of course,
for its crew, these sea-dwelling Sortax with their many arms
 and liquid-filled suits. The ship inside was designed with
 liquid filling nearly all the chambers, and I marvel now at
 the compensation the Sortax must have used to offset all
 that extra weight. There were “airlocks” of a kind for the natives
 (Them), that we bypassed without engaging. A short tunnel
 led to our holding pen, which, once all the children had entered,
 was sealed off from the rest of the ship. Sealed off from the
 rest of the ship. That essentially describes all the interactions
 of humans with any of the diverse alien species in the galaxy,
 as compatible environments rarely existed. S
ome needed liquid medium like the Sortax, others required
 some kind of gaseous environment. Often these gases were
 toxic or otherwise incompatible with our survival.
One ironic exception turned out to be the Dram, the
 Romans themselves. who ruled over all the other species
and who required a very similar oxygen and nitrogen
 content to that on Earth, even if their Earth-like planet was
 on the other side of the Milky Way. The other were the
 Xix, who needed only a small modification to an Earth-like
 atmosphere, which they achieved through a device worn
 around their necks in our presence, if you could
 describe the Xix as having necks.
~~~
Before I go any further, though, I must tell you about the Sortax! In fact, in my time, they have captured earth and any human still living are slaves to this species! The Sortax are water dwellers and I can only think of our earth's octopus to help describe them, but they must have a longer trunk and their arms range further on the trunk so that when they are in their water-filled suits they can use those we can see as arms...

Of course, none of we humans have ever seen them without their water suits, so we are only guessing what they truly look like! We do know they are intelligent and dangerous to the whole world!

Fortunately, there is at least one species who has tried to be neutral--they offer to help inhabitants of all planets and have much healing knowledge and skill.   The Xixians saved my life--which was amazing in itself since I was so close to death that the monster that I was--I was now even more grotesque

"I was a dying and wasted thing, starving, skeletal, my gums bleeding, sores all over my body. I no longer cared to live and could barely process the reality around me. The demon-ship that held us in torment had docked, and the usual sounds of unloading and loading could be heard..."

I will not attempt to describe this group or others since you will have the opportunity in Reader to meet them...

I can only say that they were the only ones who actually saw--and knew--what I could do and they worked to ensure that I was able to use those skills to the best advantage. Even they, however, could not grasp what I was able to do with the Orbs. But they saw, and believed...

Now we are beginning to fight back, but will it be too late???

I know, I know. this story is outrageous to contemplate. There have always been stories about our world, Earth, being destroyed. But nobody ever had the opportunity to tell how it happened. If I had not been stolen and made to be the monster that I am--a monster, though, who has unbelievable skills, this story would not have been possible. I have become the Daughter of Time and I had read my past. Yes, of course, I have talked with my parents, but that was before Earth had been enslaved. I have come from the future to seek your prayers, your positive thoughts... Read me! As I have read your future! You Must...Read...

Mandy Rosko Takes Readers To 2319--The World's Still Seeking...

Select Your Parts???

hmmmm??? In the year 2319, humanoids are made for many different uses. Their primary reason for being, of course, can be designed...put in your order...or see what is being offered for sale at the market...

"Melody tore her eyes away from the gyrating, half naked men and women, wearing barely-there thongs over their greased bodies, along the path set up for the buyers
 to follow inside the airport's rented auction room.
A difficult task considering almost every inch
 was being used up by booths, poles, tables, and cages.
 That last one Melody didn't particularly like,
 but it wasn't any of her business how these
handlers dealt with their wares.
She shrugged it off. To be fair,
not many handlers put their stag or doe in cages,
and the ones they'd used weren't exactly cramped.
Most were even prettified with scarves and pillows
 for the humanoids to play with and relax on.
As the doe lounged in her cage,
Melody eyed her, pretending to be interested
as a buyer instead of someone who also handled
stag and doe for a living. Stag and doe,
humanoids engineered and born in labs,
were very popular, and expensive, in the sex industry.
Little, if anything, was on their minds,
save for the act of sex, when they would get it,
who would give it to them, and how many times
they could have it. The perfect sex toy,
a warm body that wanted nothing better
 than to please and be pleased,
who asked for virtually nothing in return...

Just One Touch

(Sizzling Erotic Romance

  Novella)

By Mandy Rosko

This is a hot futuristic scifi for those into erotica... Data came to mind for me, since I'm a long-time Trekkie..

Dex was not a Star Trek officer, however, he was a slave--a sex slave...

But even as a slave, he was different--maybe someone had crossed a wire for

Melody was there for just that purpose. She had her own company, so she didn't want anybody to know who she was during the negotiations. As she roamed the market, she would take mental note of the offerings until she decided what she would purchase...

Until she was surprised to see Dex being auctioned...

She and Dex had a past history... Her mother had been in the business but had kept Dex for her own, but would not permit him to be with her sexually. Melody had tried to seduce Dex often and once did get him
in her room, only to be caught together. Melody had told her mother that Dex had attacked her...

Dex was immediately returned to the factory for...reprogramming...
Now he was back on the block to be sold to anybody who had the money...

But the sales pitch was different for Dex now. The owner stated that he could provide pleasure without any significant touching.

Melody had just walked up to where he was being held, in chains, been astounded to see him; but Dex was not happy to see her since she had caused him much pain and suffering, in many ways...

When Melody heard the owner, she didn't believe her...so she went forward to "try him out..."

The owner was correct in telling his abilities.

Melody bought him on the spot...

But Dex was in the mood for revenge, not loving...

If you've seen Data on television, you know that he often attempts to learn more about human feelings...

Perhaps it is better to long for them than to actually have them?
Dex probably thought so.

Because he sure gave Melody an earful! I loved it!

There is quite an interesting story in this short novella; and I found it quite intriguing. Will we humans ever be satisfied??? This is light erotica, not any more than you see in some major novels...except for a more specific language...

Highly recommended for those interested...Your Choice...

Mandy Rosko is the middle of three children, not including three step-brothers. I am not married, have no kids, and am hoping that this writing business pays off one day since I'm not qualified, motivated, or smart enough to do anything else. : /

The first romance novel I ever read came from a used bookstore in Fort Erie, and as there isn't a Chapters, Coles, or any other place other than WalMart or Zellers where you could get books new in that town, I wound up losing a lot of money there. I started off reading fantasy, and always enjoying the bits of romance that were found in those books the most. Then I discovered Surrender My Love by Johanna Lindsay...

Sandy Nathan Introduces Us to The Angel...

The Angel and The Brown-Eyed Boy

By Sandy Nathan

Sandy Nathan had a dream--and she named it! You are now reading my thoughts about this quirky little book that was dreamed--"something that is strange, not normal but cool" according to the Urban dictionary. Strange, for one thing, because as I read, the word quirky came to my mind! I've never used it before! But I have dreamed an entire story, which I never published...but just might now!  Certainly there are other books out there about the end of the world and I've read quite a few recently due to the "2012" scare... But I don't think there is ever going to be another like this one!

What I found interesting was that the story is just before the very end, but there is more important "stuff" to engage readers! Like The Angel and the Brown-Eyed Boy... These are quirky characters--"different--in a good way."

Sure, there are strange things happening in the world--like being watched continuously. And, oh yeah, Russia has made a comeback and now is the leader, more like overlord, of the world. And there doesn't seem to be many people left, in fact, some of the "land" is already gone. But none of this is too surprising, at least not for me... Those of us at my age seem to be more aware that this is really going to happen one of these days and, Sandy, as an economist, uses her expertise to hypothesize and fantasized what will happen. Unfortunately, with her expertise, some of her thoughts may indeed be prophetic..

.

Ahhhh, then I met Eliana, she was such a delightful character that my focus narrowed...where did she come from? Why was she here? Was she really an angel--or an alien?

You see, she showed up on the streets, with little clothing and in a pair of ballet slippers...and a big oversized, heavy coat to which she was so attached, it seemed like her version of a "blankie" that she had never given up from her childhood...

Actually, the pockets held many strange things, one of which was the address of Hermitage Academy, a school for the arts. Once she got there, she was immediately accepted and pulled in by the dance instructor. Because she thought she was a new student from Russia. Eliana was from a place much further away than Russia...

But when they asked her to dance, she danced for more than three hours without stopping--nor did anybody try to stop her. They were spellbound by her ability, dancing to any music that they played, joyously and with skill like no other...

Eliana was here for a reason, she was to find the golden boy. Of course, the problem was that the lead male dancer in the school was called that--and he was known for skills in much more dangerous areas than Eliana wanted to deal with...

At the same time, in a secret place of that school, a boy was working in his computer lab. He is brilliant, although some have diagnosed him as autistic. Jeremy Edgarton was the son of a rich woman who was known all over the world and now traveling with the highest general in the Russian army. She constantly financially supported her son's needs for computers--which were now banned for the general public. And he had done much research and had set a plan for what was going to happen in the future...

But then he met Eliana...and helped to save her from that male dancer. Then they were on the run as the boy had been killed...

This dream goes on and on...until we learn how the end of the world had started, moving across the earth, a city or a country at a time, was being destroyed...

This dream also includes a love story like no other--really!

Enchanting, fascinating, and heartwarming are the words I am left with as I think about the story. The end of the world? Yes, it did happen...

Highly recommended!

Sassy SciFi Based Upon Present Earth Violence! I Would Vote "yes"!

Oil painting of Coney IslandImage via Wikipedia
Coney Island must have been a favorite place for some of the
women who first landed on the planet where they would
spend their future - separate from all males from earth!
Tritcheon Hash

By Sue Lange

Interested in a futuristic sassy little scifi? Check out Tritcheon Hash, which is titled after the main female character, a top pilot on the planet called Coney Island.

Now Coney Island, normally called just the Island, might seem a strange name for a planet, but then, this is not just any planet--it is the "female" side of the Human Race that at one time lived on Earth...

It is now the 31st century and the sexes have been split for many decades and I can certainly understand why! The domestic abuse, violence and continuous wars had led to only one solution for women--Leave!

Interestingly Coney Island is a thriving, respected planet that is favored by surrounding planets and species. They don't like to deal with human men. Much of earth is gone--destroyed by war or bad treatment of the environment, including spaces that were contaminated and are just now being able to begin to be cleansed.

Of course all of the inventions that are available are exciting "possibilities." My favorite was on earth, and provided for the air to be cleansed of pollutants and then they were used to make things. Men are mostly meat eaters and vegetables, etc., are used mostly to feed the animals.

But men are also now divided between the aggressors and pacifists! Obviously all men were not interested in constant war-like lives. One of those pacifists fell in love with Tritcheon!

It happened during a training program of young military individuals from both planets. Yes, the Island has a military component, useful for planetary exploration and interactions, etc., as opposed to aggression.Earth officials had been trying to begin reunification and the women were at least willing to discuss options. The only real contact between the two planets was the annual exchange of sperm for the male children...

Now Tritcheon has been selected to explore what was really happening on earth, as opposed to what they were being told and she made it there. But she had trouble landing and was discovered almost immediately. The commander's group who found her was all for keeping her confined but fortunately she escaped that, although she was able to see the treatment of prisoners as they wandered through yards trying to find food... Tritcheon finds her former friend and is able to proceed openly in exploring the condition of the earth at that time...and also enjoying a little of the intimate contact that had not taken place since the sexes had split.

Many readers have called this a satire--perhaps. I tend to consider it as a possible "realistic" futuristic novel. As we watch on television, young girls fighting at schools or "just playing..." and even on reality television! What I see is that the females are picking up and using the aggressive behavior more than ever before. I am afraid of what our future holds. Satire or Wake-up Call?!!! I'm ready to move to Coney Island...

Now in Kindle--if you have children, you owe it to them to consider this one...

The Seraph Seal

By Leonard Sweet
      Lori Wagner

Informative, intriguing, exciting, joyful!...

By far, the most impressive apocalyptic novel I've read...

Read the "Alphabet of the Apocalypse: Reading the Signs of the Times" first to begin to "feel" the story...

The Seraph SealEver since I read The Late Great Planet Earth, I've been a believer. But unlike others when his time projection passed, that did not affect my belief. That author, like this one, is attempting to share the wonderful story of the end of our world. Wonderful? You are probably thinking I'm an end-times nut now, well that's ok too. I don't mind. Scientifically, however, I'm willing to accept that dates are never going to be accurate. But then again, who knows--we may never know when the time will be--until it is...

What I will say, though, is that The Seraph Seal is by far the most outstanding in its presentation of historical material, while providing an exciting, thrilling novel with an ending that at first threw me off, but then settled in to ensure an hypothesis that will satisfy even the most avid scifi time traveling fans out there...

Next year, 2012, will mark the beginning...

One interesting twist for me was the assumption that there would actually be eight horsemen. Those of us who constantly watch the battle between good and evil will instantly see the rationale behind this possibility. In December, 2012, on the exact day and at the exact time, 8 children will be born. They will all bear a birthmark, 2 representing earth, 2 representing water, 2 representing fire, and 2 representing air. But another child will also be born at that time; this is his story.

Paul Binder was born in West Virginia. When he was just born, his mother received a message that his name was to be Paul... He had been chosen... A key accompanied that message...

In 2048, Paul was a professor of history and cultural semiotics at the University of Virginia. Although he was very knowledgeable about the religions of the world, he, as well as most USAmericans, no longer practiced Christianity. Those who did were part of an underground society.

Matthew Serafino was then the USAmerica president. He bore a birthmark on his leg...

As a lover of futuristic advancements, I must commend the authors on the 2048 world created. The Cloud for many of us had been expanded and the concept of an earring potentially being an automatic access to the Internet and other communications do not seem to be far away in thought--but seeing the actual use within the novel was an exciting addition.

On the other hand, the world of 2048 is told in such a clearly scientific manner that readers will easily follow and see how decisions could bring about the resulted world as presented. For instance, with the need to move away from the need for oil, alternative fuels have been developed using, for instance, corn. It is easy to project the effect on the poor people of the world, still needing food. But in 2048, there is only one God--Power. And feeding the poor really is of minor concern...

USAmerica is no longer a leading, powerful country. For many of us, that also is not surprising. Reading it as it could be, however, is stunningly surreal!

In any event, in 2048, Paul Binder receives a letter, handwritten, letting him know "The Time of Becoming has now reached fruition. Locate the manuscript of the Diatessaron. You have been chosen to unlock the future of your world..." (p. 9)

Imagine, if you would, something happening so that the sun is moving, getting closer and closer to...earth...

And the adventure begins! The difference, readers, is that there has been stories written, studied and shared about this event for thousands of years. This is not just another fiction novel. Or is it? If so, it is an extraordinary novel that I consider a must-read for those looking for mystery, suspense, action and adventure. For those who want to read an up-to-date well researched and documented apocalyptic collection, this book has an excellent and extensive appendix of materials, including graphic references which is an instructional tool like none I've seen in novel form.

Review: Fast-Paced Action & Futuristic Setting Makes For A Winner!

The Fremont, Las Vegas, NevadaImage by Ken Lund via Flickr

Book One
Future Imperfect:
Crucifying Angel

By P.I. Barrington

On a discussion board at Facebook's Reviewers Roundup Group, the author stated: "I'm writing crime thrillers where action HAS to happen. I give my major characters HUGE interior conflicts to deal with and over or not overcome as they jump through physical hoops and various opposition."

All, I can say is--Whew, she certainly does!

Future Imperfect Book One: Crucifying AngelI just finished Book One of Future Imperfect: Crucifying Angel by P. I. Barrington this morning. As soon as I read the final words, I was ready for Book Two! Action-packed and thrills move the final climax of this explosive book on as quickly as you can scroll! (I was reading a PDF version.)

In the future, in the State of Nevada, the heat is high, the climate dry; the crime rises as the sun does, as people strive just to meet basic needs to keep living. And yet, they still flock to the Adult Disneyland where gambling and everything else goes on 24/7.

Payce Halligan is an experienced detective; however, she is just getting back into the routine. An accidental shooting had resulted in Payce killing her partner--and lover. Everybody had thought she would be too traumatized to come back at all; that she was back already was a testimony of the amazing woman she was.

But today wasn't going well; she had just been assigned a new partner, Gavin McAllister. and wasn't happy about it, assuming he was a trainee. In reality, he had been a high-placed officer before he had left his last job, his own country, his past life and arrived in Las Vegas Nevada. He, too, had faced loss--his wife and son. Immediately afterwards, he had gone a bit crazy and had developed a "ladies man" reputation which was already affecting his new location, as Payce's fellow workers were concerned that she not be hurt again.

Both might have recognized the attraction to each other, but there really wasn't time to even think about it...

They were already moving to the crime sites of women who had been murdered through reverse crucifixion. The letters C. A. were etched into their bodies. Because of the weapon that might have been used, Payce immediately thought of The Amazon, a casino where original costuming was used. By the time they made their rounds, they had found 4 bodies in 24 hours!

They lunched together at The Amazon and started discussing how to proceed, but Payce suggested that they split up, choosing what she wanted to do and giving grunt work to her new partner.

And then Payce discovered that one of the girls had been a member of a religious group in the desert, the New Creation. They learned that she had a friend, Edana. Calling Gavin to meet her there, they soon started discussion with Terrien Frye, the public representative. He was known as the Rattlesnake handler.

Two of the dwellers at the New Creation soon came, separately, to them to discuss further what was happening. Together with Edana, they returned to the Amazon; there was a security guard that might have a connection to what was happening. Leaving Edana in the car, Payce and Gavin entered The Amazon and once again Payce suggested they separate. The last time Gavin saw her was when she entered the ladies' restroom...

Gavin is given a hard time by his co-workers and he finds himself working alone to try to find his partner. Only James, a teenage dweller, comes and leads him to a very old research facility, that still functioned, but was not being used--for the original purpose that is.

There you have the basic storyline--the characters, the action, the adventures faced by Payce and Gavin, along with Edana and James, drive this book into a frenzy that is unstoppable.

Until the Crucifying Angel is stopped...

Futuristic equipment, inventions, computer control--all the things we love to read about are here for you! Just be careful--the snakes have been created with artificial jaw expansion... Enjoy!

Review: Richard Lucas' Followup Novel Exciting Conclusion!

Beyond Forever:

Journey to Tulmic

By Richard S. Lucas
Eloquent Books
ISBN: 9781608607679
306 Pages

I journeyed to Tulmic yesterday with Richard Lucas! What an exciting adventure! But then, I am one of the dreamers to whom Lucas dedicated his latest book, Beyond Forever: Journey to Tulmic. I can easily dream of leaving one world and moving into an unknown world, not knowing what would be there, what would happen. In real life, my bravery may not be as real, but traveling with Richard was a wonderful escape that kept me up to midnight for an ending that left a pleased smile on my face as I drifted off to sleep.

Lucas has created an exceptionally well-written opening which serves not only to set the stage for this book, but also refreshes our memories of his first novel: Four Paths to Forever. Beyond Forever definitely stands on its own; however, why would you not want to start at the beginning of this great adventure? Plan to spend the entire weekend dreaming!

Sandra Adams had been dreaming all of her life. As a child she had heard the legend of the Sipapu, the gateway to another world. Now for Sandra, her dreams were just a little more thorough than any we may have; you might say she was a professional Dreamer! And in fact, she was a descendent of the people, the Kulato, who had first come to settle on earth and received many visions to help her!

As a professor of archaeology, she had found the burial site of some of the Kulato that had come to earth. Joining with others she had discovered the entrance as the first book ended. Now six of those who had worked with her, and who, it was discovered, were also of Kulato blood had decided to leave their world and travel into the unknown.

Through the material left at the burial site and through additional research and mystical guidance, they had found that the other world had been close to total destruction. Would anything be left of that great city? Would there be air to breathe, water to drink, the ability to grow food? There was no way to know!

And then they were there! And it was so very beautiful!

As a Trekkie fan, I've always enjoyed the adventure of learning about different worlds and peoples. But Lucas' book goes deep and takes us directly into the daily world, detailing what they found and what needed to be done. I will tell you that there were a few people still living, although not all of them were sane...

One other highlight I'll share is that Sandra becomes the Shaman of Tulmic, which knocked her out for three days...and it really wasn't pretty what happened when an individual who was not "chosen" tried to gain the power that had once destroyed the Kulato world!

Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended! There's even quite a bit of love and romance to spice life up!After all, not many women are faced with the possibility that all of the older members in her tribe would someday leave her, totally alone, without a mate like one of the survivors was, until...

In my opinion Beyond Forever by Richard S. Lucas, would make a great stocking stuffer for teens and adventure lovers of any age!
