What's Happening?!
I will probably be writing about this month in another article... Needless to say it was...not...a good month. Mainly affecting my readers, I was offline for over a week and while I read many books during that time, it makes it harder to create my reviews if it is too long since I read the book; i.e., I have to spend some overview time refreshing my memory of each book's storyline.
In the meantime, my mail continued to come in and I've still not been able to respond. Except by the subject line, I know that there are over 50 requests for reviews unanswered...
On the other hand, I so much appreciate your continued visits to Book Readers Heaven! As you can see from the top 10 for the month, there's been many who have come to check out "What's Happening..." Really, I wish there was a way to get stats by post in addition to books... For instance, I noticed that the last post, above, shows 740 hits this month, but the total is over a thousand thus far...
Hey, did you check out my new guest poet, Nicole Brown? She's up there at 832 and her post was only up since 11/27...while my Thanksgiving special featuring Cold Comfort hit 889 so far...
Interestingly, I have observed that my reviews in which I don't recommend a book sometimes gets many hits...I hate to not recommend books, but I appreciate your willingness to read my reasons...
Christmas is coming up with several Christmas fiction books... and who knows what else will appear.😇 Going to learn about the Vikings for one and just started reading Hatchet Women! Can't wait to find out what that's about, given the title!!! Plan to come visit daily (normally) and see what's happening!
By the way, I don't think I've recently mentioned that I have a group at Facebook, Reviewers Roundup, that streams books, reviews, and all thing related to publishing...Just under 15,000 members so check us out... Think of it like the yellow pages...looking for a good book, read reviews, or sign up for blog tours, etc... Wall changes daily... Tell us you're a reader and let us know what you're interested in when you join!
I was honored to become a "first reader" for Aaron Paul Lazar, one of my top favorite authors...I'll be among the selected to get his books first before they are available for sale...
I also have another book by Bela Abel who writes from prison...somewhere...but apparently mail and contact is restricted so I'm hoping he got to see my review of the first book I read... The book provides stories about specific inmates and, for me, was an eye-opener... As I said in my review, I've never met someone who has been in jail and Bela has done a wonderful job in introducing those who find themselves there... I've got another of his books coming soon as well...
I remind everybody seeking reviews, that paperback books will always be given priority...They are easy to read, review and then move on to another... Major problems with a pdf this month and other pdf files are being sent that are in such small print, I cannot use a reader... Some Ebooks are being sent along with requests... I will retain, but cannot guarantee I will ever have the time to read and review...
My regular schedule had been five postings a week, but I've gone to seven to try to catch up for lost days... I am so thankful to poets and authors who allow me to use excerpts to keep posts going while I read exceptionally long novels...
I was please, especially, to touch base with a poet I met on Author's Den, Regis Auffray, and have been sharing his wonderful words... I used to review for that site and briefly talked with the manager there that they will be starting that activity again in the future and seeking my reviews... So if you're on Author's Den, let me know when I review and I'll be happy to post it there as well, even before their program starts. I spent a lot of time there in past years, but time has stopped my active participation on a regular basis.
On the other hand, I've been putting links to BRH on GoodReads of my reviews, since I'm now always posting there. For your information, I now post At GoodReads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Wattpad, Networked Blogs, and 3 pages on Facebook, plus my blog itself. I also routinely post to Tumbler one or several days after my post date, using it as a reminder it's up!
Hey, best close for now...Hope you are having a wonderful holiday season... and the "big" one coming up...
