Gary Hart, Retired Democrat Senator, Presents The American Republic Can Save American Democracy - Getting Back to the Basics!

This particular publisher, perhaps because of its being an essay and shorter than most books, does not permit sharing an excerpt even in reviews. I hope you will take the opportunity to listen to the videos I found related to Gary Hart's latest book. What I do in my excerpts is try to share one or more of the most important parts of nonfiction writings--sometimes, I know, it may be the only opportunity for my readers to know what so many writers are saying during this chaotic and, I have to agree with many, dangerous time in America.

Hart concludes his book by spotlighting what happened on January 6th! How many of you remember that time--to me it was worse than 9-11 since those on 9-11 were from another country, while it was homeland terrorists incited by a former president on January 6th.

Hart stated that after 12 years within Congress, he watched the "barbarians" who invaded the Capitol. He wept... Going on to clarify, "it was worse than a bad movie!" He then talked about the "barbarians" sitting at his, or a very near desk of his, rifling into papers, throwing them around, reading and screaming... Further, they demeaned the desk of the presiding officer... and then finished that "vulgar" acts were also committed there... I can see why he cried... It was his life being destroyed by "barbarians" Me, I just got angrier and angrier... Especially, knowing that the VP at that time had refused to do one last thing for his president...overthrow the election... We all know that there were fake electors named and attempted to get to the VP...

I thought it was quite ironic when Hart went on to describe the US Capitol as the "temple of democracy." Why? Because as Christians, we are told that God's Holy Spirit abides in each of us if we accept His love. Now we watched as many carrying or wearing shirts supporting the Nazis and other white supremacists garb, using the American flag to maim or kill... As Hart talked about it being a temple not only for Americans, but also for many world-wide citizens who look to the United States as a country they wanted to be like... Now, as recently as within the last month, three countries--Iran, U.K. and France have voted to remove those far-right extremists from holding office... Will they now be succeeding in working toward a stronger or firm democracy? While some Americans strive to destroy our democracy? What a catastrophe for all of us!

Hart begins his book with what many writers are talking about--retaining our republic as a democracy! And why shouldn't more be talking? Indeed I did have a civics class when I was young. For whatever reason, surely a political reason, that class has been removed from our educational system? Why? Now we are in a mess when our young people don't even know what the Bill of Rights are... Our Constitution? Doubtful... It had never been important, it seems, because all of our past presidents, prior to 2015, was dedicated to the Constitution.

What occurred during the past administration was bad enough as many of our regulations for safety of our citizens who work in dangerous environments, for instance, was eliminated... Anything that could affect the bottom line of major corporations was stopped, apparently. Nobody could do anything about it, especially when it was instigated by the president, and supported by one political party, and then later, after having added 3 Supreme Court Justices, was able to even remove laws! Hart knew what would happen if America was controlled by an authoritarian president. In essence it would result in no government other than as controlled by that office. Think Putin's presidency which is a controlled election in which he always wins... And if, the last opponent who tried, he was imprisoned and "died" there... Hart is specific, authoritarian leaders undermine and subvert the principles of government. And that the best ways to avert that is to be found in the republican principles and ideals as expressed in our Constitution. So, as a reminder, here's a quick or full presentation of our Constitution...

If you do listen to the original you will learn that, at that time, some people living in America were not even considered a "whole person..." Many changes have been made to improve individual citizens standings since then. Thank God! But at least you will learn how things began...

Hart does a great analysis starting with Civics 101, you might say... "We The People..." and all that... In my opinion, he was so upset (as most Americans were) that when he saw January 6th incited by a president, that he quickly began to germinate just how he was going to write another book...  You might say, that when a former Senator sees that overthrowing an election had been planned, implemented and resulted in an insurrection, he felt that he'd have to start from the beginning...for these "Barbarians." (Again, his word not mine, but you don't see me disagreeing, do you?)

Then Hart starts talking about the threats to our democracy. Wait for it... we all know that it would be "Equal Rights! Or at least the majority of our citizens, especially those that had to fight for rights (and are still fighting--you know, women who have just lost control of our own bodies; Indigenous citizens and All Non-White citizens who are still harassed, hated and often killed just for being the color they are! Or having a different religion than some people...) And, People, Citizens, Let me Tell You It Can Get Worse! Have you heard of Project 2025? I recommend you do some research on this 900-page plan of action if the past president gets to be our next president!

Hart goes over a little history, such as the McCarthy period--no, not the first leader of the house, who was quickly removed, etc as well as the second... Anyway, the first political McCarthy who made a name for himself was calling everybody communists...and the government spent a lot of time and money "policing" who was accused... He points out that both parties have had some problems, but it was most the far right who really got into who had/did support Hitler and a Fascist government... Funny thing is this seems to have reversed this time... That last big chaotic shakeup didn't work, so this time they'll try something else... like, White Supremacy/Hitler's dreams... Then Hart gets specific pointing out that Donald Trump was doing exactly what had already been tried, but in the opposite game... His closure is simply, An authoritarian, strong leader's solutions are always simple, draconian--of great severity), and wrong... And, that they are wrong, simply because they are outside the bounds of democracy, where we the people are guaranteed certain inalienable rights--life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

Hart's ending is also expected... We MUST save our democracy! He notes that he is writing this book simply because many have not been involved (like me, pre-2015) and are not aware of the very real loss of all of our promised rights under our constitution if an authoritarian--a dictator is elected... I, for one value my freedom for myself and for all other citizens. For me, that means all of God's children--red and yellow, black and white they are precious in his sight!

Hart joined Keep Our Republic. I just checked and they have general info but also for the 3 swing states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin... I've asked for more information to share here if possible...

Hart's book may not be new in content. What I found most important was that a retired Senator openly admitted that he cried as he watched January 6th...  I was in shock during the actual activities, but had been so involved in news and books related to what was happening, I, just like Gary Hart, turned to activism... I hope that each person who stops by Book Readers Heaven will talk about what is happening. Perhaps referring to something you have learned here. No, I refuse to read books sharing the opposite viewpoint. I no longer am a reviewer that accepts books for review, so have no limitations on what I read--only on what impacts my life, my friends and family's lives and the country that has been good to all of our citizens, even if we had/have to keep fighting those who have different viewpoints... For me, I've read books by people of many races and/or religion. I think I have a good handle on the way the majority feel about their lives and how they feel about what is happening. I believe in the Democratic party now in Office. There may be issues that could be of concern, as I read in my last book about Identity Politics. But, having learned that, I took time to listen and include, for instance, Biden's speech at the NAACP... As Biden says, I believe he has become wiser as a result of his last eight years with President Obama and in our present Administration with Kamala Harris. Specifically, I believe he is so adamant about continuing because he knows that we are already going backward as a result of Trump's court changes and does not want to see more of the America he has supported all his life be destroyed...

A final note, when a comedian's monologue as he begins his show is not funny, you know he and many others are concerned... I've included some of my favorite and most relevant videos for me, in my life... What do you think? Want to share about your concerns? Let's talk via Comments below...

An Email From Ambra... Star of Erec Stebbins' Reader!

From the future, a final plea. Out of the past, a last hope.
--by Ambra Dawn

This blog post may be the most important you will ever read.

That may seem sensationalist, but that’s because you don't understand the nature of reality and are ignorant of the critical juncture Earth will find itself in the not-too-distant future. You also could never have anticipated how important you could be as a reader to the struggle of humanity to escape a terrible calamity.

Below the title of the first person, "science fiction" novel called Reader, is an author’s name: Erec Stebbins. He is a traditionally published novelist with a thriller under his belt (The Ragnarök Conspiracy, published by Seventh Street Books). For the last 12 years he has been working as a scientist running a basic research lab in molecular biophysics in New York City.

He believes this story is full of his ideas, born of his own mind. It’s not. I am writing it through him. In his reality, it’s all part of a clever plot he’s stitched together, even down to this very blog post, written "as if" from the future, that says he isn’t the author. The truth is, it is the effort of my mind reaching out, back through what you call Time, and inspiring his mind, shaping his thoughts, convincing him of this reality.

Sounds crazy? It is. I know it is. And I'm the one doing it.

I don’t enjoy doing this, playing puppet master with this citizen of your time. But our need is hopelessly desperate. More than you can imagine has been lost. And we are left with nothing but ashes in the cold of space.

I’ve done worse. This is dangerous, both for his mind, and my own. Already, I have failed many times to send my message, and my efforts wrecked the receiving minds, driving them to madness. At other times, what has come out of the author has been a story so distorted, so warped by his own imaginings, that the message is lost, and can’t achieve its purpose. Your libraries hold some of these disasters. I can only hope that this, my last effort, will not fail.

There is so much to explain, so much that you need to understand before you can accept the message, and take the step we so desperately need you to take. So many things - strange things, horrible things. Things that can’t possibly be true, but are.

As much as the future can reach back into the past, the past can reach forward into the future. And in our time of need, we need you of our recent past. You have a part to play in righting a terrible wrong, saving billions of lives, and reversing the horrific fate that has descended upon humanity. Somehow in this email, and in the pages of the novel I have written through him, I must convince you and many more of this. May I be forgiven if I can’t.

My murdered parents called me Ambra Dawn, and I am a Reader. Hear my story. Champion it. This is our terrible plea to you of the still living Earth.

The fate of humanity depends upon your actions.

Yours in terrible need,

Wow! Carl Lee's Futuristic World Calls To Me! You Too?

The Earth seen from Apollo 17.

"Supplies continually dipped below demand. Governments at
first used rationing for short periods to equal things out.
"During this time, the space program approved building
spacecraft with Dupes. The expectation was that someone
would figure out how to make the Dupe work as a transporter, memory intact, before the ships arrived at their
destinations.
"The whole project took on a feverish pitch. Dupe parts were
whisked away as needed to ensure launches took place when
scheduled. To those in charge of the project, they represented port belly and became priority...
"Unprecedented, the space program moved. New facilities went up with eyesight of several of the Dupes. Plans to secure the Dupes with fortifications were given the go ahead...
"There was no way to make something from nothing. When the Dupes ran out of raw material, they asked those waiting for food to bring it in exchange. In no time, the vegetation for miles around was hacked to the ground and fed to the Dupe.
"It was at that time Douglas Fairbanks stepped up to the plate and declared he was in charge of all Dupes...

A Stone's Throw Away

By Carl Lee

I love what writers are doing these days to get readers involved with their work. For instance, on finishing the last page of Lee's novel, he immediately invites his readers to join a group, by the same name as the title, at a community site called Gather. Which, of course, I did. Right now I don't know what's going to happen next, except that Lee wants participation in how the sequel goes...

And I definitely have some ideas about that and am an enthusiast on the potential of computers and other futuristic electronics. I have to immediately

"It happened without warning.
Brian signed into his email and opened
 the last one he had received. It was
from Sandy and addressed to everyone at the Research
Center. This was common and came as no surprise.
 What was a surprise was the subject of the email
 was Brian...
An announcement, it stated he had completed
his apprenticeship and would receive his first project...
~~~
say that this author "Wowed" me with his story! If you, too, are caught up in "what ifs", then you've got to consider this a must-read!Now I'll quickly point out that I wondered about the first couple of chapters as we listen to a professor ramble...but you'll quickly notice something:
There are very few students...
The students are all boys...
The professor is a man...
They live in some type of compound which is enclosed...
What you will soon realize is that this is Earth: Reclaimed...
Eventually all the food was gone, and people died of starvation or died fighting for food...But don't spend time assuming that this is the thrust of the story...Not!
When the people died, that doesn't mean that all of the technology was destroyed. In fact, there have been many advancements and those of you, like me, who grew up with Star Trek, will realize that all the things that happened on the ship had to have been first invented through, perhaps, very drastic conditions.
Douglas Fairbanks
Douglas Fairbanks (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
In fact, a man living at that time, Douglas Fairbanks, {who looked amazingly like his ancestor -my add! LOL) took control of a crumbling civilization...and began to make decisions that would lead to survival. Now, I am going to do a giveaway because there really is no way to avoid coming to know this immediately. Fairbanks happened to be gay; he mandated that there would be only men in this new, advanced world.
Now stop and think how that will be possible... Of course, a machine has been invented that can duplicate humans...
In fact, everything that is needed for human life must be "duped" and these machines are highly guarded and privileges for duplication is earned via your work career, which is negotiated or decided for you as you leave school...Ok, that's the backstory...
Brian had just graduated along with his friends. All of them discovered that it was suggested that they had a high aptitude for "child rearing..." Pete was his one friend who took that path. Danny and Brian both knew they were not cut out for that, so either working in research or maintenance were the only other choices. Both took research.
Danny and Brian had been best friends, but when Danny suggested that they find a home together, Brian knew he wasn't ready for that type of relationship. Then Brian finished his apprenticeship first and Danny began to work with another student... Soon Brian was seeking to leave the research center. Danny had hurt him and he wanted to leave! He met Ivan, was sexually harassed, and...soon began an apprenticeship with Henry. Brian was getting his first wish--to learn how to fly!
And that's when it all started!
One of the tragic events was that on one of the runs, Henry was attacked by a predator! It seems that Fairbanks hadn't done anything about the animals, and they had taken over much of the earth...any individual who was not in one of the enclosed areas was in danger!
There is no way I'm giving any more of this away, except to say that Brian is a genius...Just imagine what a genius could accomplish with a Dupe! LOL! Wow, This is a very cool book with so much futuristic happenings that you'll start "drooling" to get your hands on a Dupe! LOL! I loved it...and I can't wait to watch and maybe help a little as Carl Lee writes the sequel! Carl, You've got a winner here! Imaginative, Creative, Fantastic Visionary...Keep Going...I can see a series in this one...
Amanda Brooke's Yesterday's Sun Available in U.S. February 12th!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:STOKESAY_CASTLE_GATEHOUSE.jpg
"She carefully typed the name of the moon goddess into the
search engine and was immediately presented with pages of
hyperlinks, some of which provided immediate dead ends,
others only tiny snippets of information. It was only when she
added Charles Hardmonton's name to the search that she hit
pay dirt. She found a research site that not only gave more
detail about Lord Hardmonton's last expedition, but it also
disclosed information about his fall from grace, information
that would have been seen as libelous in its day and wouldn't
be found in any physical book...
"Lord Hardmonton's last recorded expedition had indeed been
in search of the temple of Coyolxauhqui in Central Mexico...
"The missing item was never recovered. He became a recluse
and lived out the rest of his life in Hardmonton Hall...
Yesterday's Sun
By Amanda Brooke
This novel will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the last few pages, even though it is a sad ending, it was also an amazing one...The plot is simple, but the story is so compelling that I got as edgy as the main character, wondering what was going to happen...
If you are a mother, make sure you have plenty of kleenex available! If you're not a mother, you may find it even harder to "play the game..."
Because it definitely was a game--a game that you could not win...
The original estate of Charles Hardmonton had included a large country home and a gate house. The gardens were extensive and beautifully maintained--and the moondial sat regally in the middle. But the main hall had burnt down many years ago, and the only family member left had moved as far away as possible... It had been Hardmonton who had stolen the Coyolxauhqui Stone and made it into a moondial which was then hidden openly there where he lived. And where his family later died...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyolxauhqui
"It was only in his last entry, the day before
the fire, that Edward finally accepted his fate:
"I had often wondered why my great-great-
grandfather had allowed the device for which
he had sacrificed his career and his reputation
to fall into wrack and ruin. Now I know what
Charles Hardmonton must have known on his
deathbed. We are not meant to meddle with
destiny. It is too heavy a burden for any man to
have the ability to see into the future...
~~~
Holly and Tom were still newlyweds when they moved into the beautiful gatehouse. Holly sculpted and they were having a shop built for her by a local carpenter, who soon became like a father to both of them. Tom was a journalist, but was concerned about his future--he had recently been sent out on assignment, reporting from various places around the world.

That meant Holly was alone much of the time...

Holly had a background of abuse in her childhood and had been alone most of her life, even when she was with people... She kept busy with making small sculptures which were selling good and she had been commissioned to create a large hallway sculpture of mother and child for an egotistical woman who had married into money. Holly not only did not like her client, she had been reluctant to take the commission, thinking she would not be able to envision the piece, given her own background and not now being a mother.

Tom was anxious to have a child or children and they often talked about it, but Holly was afraid that she was not "mother" material. It was very clear to everybody but her, however, that she was a loving individual, very much in love with Tom, and they knew she would make a wonderful mother. Convincing her was the problem...

And then they found the moondial, which had been given to the previous owner after the main hall had burned. Holly was intrigued and worked hard to put it together but was disappointed when the main orb seemed not to fit, or work any longer... But at least it looked good in the garden, as they were doing the cleanup there...

Jocelyn, a lovely older woman who came to welcome Holly, was quick to notice that they had found and started to use the dial...

As they became close, Jocelyn having another chance to mother this young woman and Holly finding the first real mother she'd ever really had, Jocelyn shared her own story about the moondial...one in which she felt she was guilty of her husband killing himself...and her separation from her own son...

But nothing prepared Holly for the first time she had learned, and then used, the moondial. For she learned that she would have a child some time in the future...and that she, Holly, would die in childbirth...

What would you do in that situation? Would you share everything with your husband? Holly did not. She did more and more research, to discover if, and how, the future that would leave her husband devastated really would come true...And she learned just how much Tom loved her, as she stood watching him taking care of their baby, after the baby was born, a beautiful little girl named Libby...

Be prepared for agonizing suspense as you read how Holly could not stay away from the moondial, which only worked with the full moon, and those few times she was able to see her daughter...

Not an easy book to read. But it is memorable, and one of the most provocative stories you may ever read. Does fate win? Can your life plan be changed? In some ways, this literary tale is almost a fable... And, oh yes, the moondial is still there in that little village, waiting for the next one, the one who will be foolish or brave enough to look into the future...

Highly recommended if you think you can stand to tempt fate and see your future as well???
