Latest From Ruby Moon-Houldson, Closing Argument, Based on Her Personal Story...

These dreams go on when I close
my eyes. Every second of the
night, I live another life. Every
moment I'm awake, the further
I'm away.
Dayla Maylen listened to the
words of the song playing softly
on the clock radio...To her it seemed
like only yesterday that her life had
changed dramatically...but Brady
had passed away 3 months ago...
Note: Pictures used are of  friends of Ruby as found on Facebook and have no relationship to the characters. Ruby is the only "real" story character...as the writer... and the story is fiction...mostly...

"In loving memory of my loving husband who passed away March, 2014..."
~~~
This is one of the few romantic novels written by Ruby Moon-Houldson. She is mostly known for her sci-fi/fantasy or thriller books. I can understand how this novel would be quite cathartic, as well as a comfort for her husband, who worked with her on some of the narrative.
It is a quite unusual story, for the husband in the book is quite anxious to have identified and placed another man in her life--one who will be there for her, to protect her, and, hopefully, even love her more than he ever could.
It wasn't that they had not loved each other--cared deeply and had a wonderful life together... It was, rather, that they had met at a time when both wanted and needed something and it involved being married.  The doctors had now shared that their was nothing that could be done to extend Brady's life... Other than make his remaining days as good as possible. When he was feeling better, he delighted in helping Dayla with her latest novel, which was to be about her new life once he had died... And when she'd admitted she wasn't interested in Simon, a close friend of both of them, he had started to question her about who she might have an interest in...until she finally told him! Of course, he then went on to check him out and give her his blessing... LOL
What we might feel for each other is irrelevant, just a passing thing.
With time and distance it will fade away like a teenager and puppy love."
~~~
"Sometimes you fall in love with someone, but your're not meant to be
together. I think that's the case with my situation,.."
~~~
Dayla was not at all pleased to have Brady working to plan out her future life and was embarrassed when he had actually had a full discussion with Simon, a close friend of hers, but a man about whom she had no love interest! As a writer, she had traveled extensively to many places and had no fear of being alone. In fact, she had come to enjoy a freedom that allowed her to participate in things that she enjoyed and to make plans that she would handle on her own. Now as Brady's health deteriorated, he couldn't seem to accept that she could go on...alone...
Closing Argument
By Ruby Moon-Houldson
For older women, there may be some confusion about what is happening with Dayla... But for Chick Lit readers, this could represent a scenario that many might face in the future. That is, is marriage the most important thing in a woman's life...or is her new-found financial independence and decision-making freedom now much more important? Especially in considering possible second marriages.
"There's no one here for me," Dayla
pointed out. "All those who have voiced
an interest are not in the least attractive
in my eyes. None of them can hold a
candle to what Brady was like. He was
so many great things rolled into one
package. He had a wonderful personality.
He was easy going. A jack-of-all trades.
Didn't make demands of me. Let me be
free to do as I wished. He was just great
all around." She sighed as she lowered
her gaze. "Besides, work is elsewhere,
not here."
~~~
There were two men who had strong feelings about Dayla. Both had become widowers in the recent past and Dayla  had known them during their losses. Simon was adamant that his love was strong enough that even if she didn't love him now, if married she would grow to love him--could he recognize that she had already done that with Brady and had known they'd had a happy marriage?

On the other hand, Laith was a lawyer in town where they both lived. He had similar interests and they had become more acquainted through their help provided to the local Arts Center.
She met Layth's brown eyes, "As far as men
go, I see myself using them as they use women.
A man on the scene every so often to take care
of my needs and then out the door they go."
She then straightened up and went about her
work once again...
~~~
Simon would stop by often as he traveled for work. And he would often stay with
Dayla at a cabin
"I want to talk about us."
Dayla shrugged away from Layth, "There is no us."
"That's what I feel we need to talk about," he continued
as he tried to keep Dayla from running off. "I feel
it's time we came clean about how we feel in regards to
each other...
~~~
she was living in while she got the house ready for sale. The cabin was owned by a couple who were her friends and they knew she loved it there... She had packed up the few things she would want to take with her when she moved--her plans were to move out-of-state. She had known there was no choice but for her to take the painting Laith had given her, with the Enterprise right in the center... And as she packed her memories took her back to his leading an art class in which she had finally learned how to create small branches just by placing her pinky finger on the painting!

The thing was, Dayla greatly loved one of those men who professed loved for her. But she just didn't know how she could go back to not having the freedom that Brady had given her... It would not be easily to have a dominant figure in her home that had a right to participate in making even the smallest household decisions...

Enta hayati, lecken
Will this be a happily ever after ending?
Or just a big surprise to climax it all?!

While the romance activities move in different directions, readers will also see and learn about several major criminal cases which are being handled in town. Dayla was working on her latest book and began to attend the court cases to watch the people involved to help her form her new characters. She also got involved with one of them and soon both Dayla and Laith were in danger as more and more evidence was being found against police officials!

And then there is a little enticement to learn a little Arabic language which the author learned to prepared for her trip to Egypt...alone...LOL It will probably be hard to decide whether or not this is a true story...But, who cares? There's enough about the author that we will recognize her as one of our Fackbook friends and what she's all about... Where fiction starts and truth begins, I guess, will have to be a wait and see... Will our writer remarry sometime in the future? My feeling is that we will have forgotten all about the possibility by the time something happens way in the future...LOL

Check out this wonderful story about a woman who was happily married...and then totally on her own... Highly recommended!

Ruby Moon-Houldson's Latest in Guardian Series Now Out in EBook...

Guardian of the Middle Realm
Guardian of the Middle Realm
(Photo credit: www.ruffrootcreative.com)

“Vows are for those who wish to keep them,” Jadyn related with a huff. “And you no longer wish to keep the one that ties you to Remiel?” he asked with great interest.
 “I want more than he’s willing to give. I have to live out my own life just as others do. It doesn’t look like I’ll be in the Middle Realm for much longer.”
“You’ve been spending quite a bit of time up here lately.” Jadyn turned her gaze upon Araboth once more.
“You’ve noticed?” Araboth nodded.
“Most certainly.” He then smiled. “So tell me, Hephate, what’s come about to make you feel the way you do now? What about your duty? What about the Middle Realm?”
“To the devil with the Middle Realm. It’s nothing but a battle ground of chaos and unrest. Those who dwell there need to be on their own—fight for themselves if they want to make it—prove their own worth to save their own skins. Goodness knows I’ve given my all for them. And what have I received in return? Being surrounded by vampires. Working with kids. And being saddled with a Pure One who’s afraid to rock the boat a little every now and then. I need a stronger companion—one who’s willing to take a chance on having fun now and then. Strong arms and gentle whispers just don’t cut it any longer. I’m tired of the constant struggle to keep balance in the Middle Realm. I’m ready to rest now. I’m ready to come home to stay,” she shared with an air of finality.
Araboth considered Hephate’s words. He probed the Great Master’s mind and read her thoughts. He also concentrated on and dissected the feelings which were flowing free from Hephate’s countenance. He concluded she was being sincere in her revelation. He drew an arm about the Great Master. “You can always count on us—those you’ve been with over the eons. And I’ll stand by you if you need someone to turn to while you work through your troubles,” Araboth offered.
Jadyn smiled. “Thanks, Araboth. That means a lot to me.”
“Anytime,” he replied as he lightly ran a hand down the long black hair which blanketed Hephate’s back.
“I think I’ll head out for the Guardian’s abode,” Jadyn announced.
“Need some company?” Jadyn smiled once again as she slowly eyed the Great Master up, down, and then up again. “Why not? We just may enjoy a stimulating conversation along the way.”
“And maybe even something more,” Araboth returned in a suggestive undertone. And with that he slipped an arm around Hephate and proceeded to guide them down the golden path which would lead them to the nearest portico.

Guardians of Immortal Faith

By Ruby Moon-Houldson

The unbelievable has happened! Jadyn, the main character in The Guardian series by Ruby Moon-Houldson has turned against Christopher and her family. She wants to return to the Upper Realms, where she can use her power as a Great Master! Christopher could go too, if he wanted—but it is clear she really doesn’t care if he does! What could have caused it?

Christopher started having dreams in Guardians of Immortal Faith. Given that many important events have been foretold in their dreams, he is worried—because Jadyn has turned against him and has threatened his life so that he must defend himself in the only way he can—by showing his vampire side and covering the mark on Jadyn’s throat with his fangs! Each time he awakes, just as Jadyn screams, “No, Remiel!”

Although Christopher and Jadyn have routinely shared important dreams with each other at the appropriate time, Christopher felt he could not this time, for he had already begun to see actual changes in Jadyn that bothered him. For one, in the frenzy of battles, she had “accidentally” killed a number of good vampires. Many had become leery of being involved in a battle if she was there. At home, she had become impatient with the children; so much so that Christopher was concerned she might hurt one or more of them!

As he thought about it, things had started to be different when she first discovered that she was a Great Master and she was spending more and more time in the Upper Realms. While he is taking on more and more responsibilities and all are now looking to him as their leader. He has faith in Jadyn and believes she will rid of herself of what is bothering her and get back to her family. That is, until he starts hearing the rumors. Rumors that Hephate [Jadyn] is routinely seen with another of the Great Masters! Since their own intimacy has dramatically decreased, fear and jealousy brings about a confrontation.

Jadyn is almost relieved to tell him that she is tired of the never-ending battles that do nothing to help the Middle Realm, suggesting that the mortals should fight their own battles! She wants to move back into the Upper Realms and if Christopher won’t go with him, then she will take Rayna and live there! Christopher is so concerned that he decides that he must hide Rayna to protect her from her mother!

You can’t afford to miss Guardians of Immortal Faith by Ruby Moon-Houldson. One good thing that I can report is that Randu has become interested in a woman! Of course it is the same woman that had come to Christopher’s bed to tempt him into becoming unfaithful to his wife...
How long can Christopher keep his Immortal Faith? Trackle Ruby Moon-Houldson, put it on your calendar, or whatever you do to make sure you don’t miss Guardians of Immortal Faith. Not my favorite—but you gotta read it! For when the battle of the swords begins in the Valley of Fire, Christopher and Jadyn will be fighting on different sides!

Special Afterwords of conversations between Jadyn and The Great One, as well as Jadyn’s thoughts provide readers an intimate view of the struggles and turmoil she faced during this time in her life. Once again, the author has given us ample reason to follow The Guardian Series!

~~~
The Guardian series is a sensuous escape into the fantasy world of the ages. I am thoroughly hooked! When I read the More Than Angels books, I declared Moon-Houldson a must-read author. However, the Guardian series, in an entirely different genre, forces, yes, forces me to consider this author a Creative Genius! Book reviews cannot begin to describe the fascinating complexity, compelling story line and sensuality of these stories. While based upon well-researched somehow familiar magical stories, each idea from Moon-Houldson is unique but totally interwoven into an intricate tale that becomes a reality into which readers invariably fall! Building suspense through character development and constantly more exciting and seemingly impossible challenges is almost magically done through brilliant writing! The Guardian series demands to be consumed!
Guardians of Immortal Night - Pre-Publication Review of Next Book in Series!
Solar System Planets.Image via Wikipedia
Guardians of Immortal Night
By Ruby Moon-Houldson
Anybody who's been following The Guardian series by Ruby Moon-Houldson will find this book uniquely "Jadyn." If you haven't read any of this great series, I recommend you don't start with this one. It is a major turning point and includes MUCH, including the final battle for the middle realm!
For lovers of her series, it is, of course, a must-read.
Jadyn is the female heroine of the series...but she is so much more--more than any of us would have dreamed of. We have watched her through various roles she has played. We have watched her fall in love and marry, after leaving the upper realm. We have watched her fight battles in the middle realm and lead her forces as a leader like no other...
Christopher is her husband and at this time in the series calls himself a gatekeeper, keeping track of the activities of both good and bad beings as they seek control of the middle realm.
But the Jadyn we find as Guardians of Immortal Night opens is more "human" than we've seen her. She is suffering and many of us will realize she is in a serious depression. In the last book, Jadyn was forced into a situation which was so outside of her persona that she is unable to forgive herself! She and Christopher had come together again, but she is still so full of doubt--much like we humans, right?
And when sometimes Christopher comes to her and seeks her company, asking "Will you accept me?" she finds herself unwilling. Fortunately the latter caused her so much internal conflict that she ultimately realized what was going on and just how evil her enemies could be... Will she ever be fully able to once again be secure in the love of her husband?
At the same time, the nights are coming earlier and some are now questioning whether it is Jadyn herself who is creating the darkness. So, in her usual fashion, Jadyn begins to investigate and evaluate...besides, Rayna, one of her children, has given her another warning, again provided through a riddle: Change is numerous One is already. One has always been. And one is yet to come. Jadyn hated riddles! And, soon she learned that one of her own children will be changed much like her first born, increasing the pain and depression she is fighting.
It is interesting to learn that a major effect of information technology is the amount of power that is and can be obtained by those who use it in support of evil. Things like store reward or discount cards are sold for personal identity info. Tracking devices can be used anywhere and even money can include small strips which, when scanned, can tell how much money individuals are carrying. And with the type of evil transactions changing, we also see family member roles changing and expanding.
Jadyn has much to work through in her personal time of depression, sometimes even lashing out at Christopher and The Great One from her own pain that she must fight through. And you'll understand why and grow closer to understanding Jadyn than ever before! In fact, readers learn much about love from this being who personifies love itself...
This novel also brings several new love relationships, one of which brings back memories of how she and Christopher first met, and caused death to follow...
Still other individuals are promoted to take over much of the responsibilities previously handled by Jadyn and Christopher And they, in turn, have a future created by memories restored!
Guardians of Immortal Peace is coming next. With everything that happened in Guardians of Immortal Night, it is beyond my imagination to consider what will happen next and I'll admit I'll  love being the first reader able to share a preview of that one sometime soon. Ruby Moon-Houldson has gone beyond our universe to present readers with out-of-the-world experiences that, like another series, takes us where no man has ever gone before. But in placing love as the driving force, she keeps providing a guarantee that good will always win out over evil!
Or will it? One will soon confront Jadyn to challenge that belief!
A truly remarkable series!
