Jacketflap Home to Children's Choice Book Awards Finalists- Congratulations to All!

The finalists for the 2011 Children's Choice Book Awards were just announced. I'm excited to say that books written by four of JacketFlap's members are among the finalists! Voting for the finalists is now open. Children and teens will be able to cast their votes for their favorite books, author, and illustrator at bookstores, school libraries, and at the Book Week website (BookWeekOnline.com) until Friday, April 29, 2011. More than 15,000 child ren and teens from around the US spent months reading and evaluating books submitted by publishers to select the finalists in the Book of the Year categories; the Favorite Author and Illustrator finalists were selected by the Children's Book Council from an evaluation of best-seller lists. The winner in each category will be named at a gala celebration on May 2, 2011, hosted by 2010 3rd-4th Grade Book of the Year winner Jarrett Krosoczka, at The Lighthouse in New York City, as part of Children's Book Week (May 2-8, 2011), the oldest national literacy initiative in the United States.

To enhance the awareness of the awards, the Children's Book Council is working with JacketFlap again this year to create a Children's Choice Book Awards Widget, which displays a different finalist book every time it loads on a web site or blog. News From JacketFlap, 2010 Children's Choice Book Awards...Tell Your Children!

The finalists for the 2010 Children's Choice Book Awards were just announced. I'm excited to say that books illustrated by three of JacketFlap's members are among the finalists! Voting for the finalists will open March 15th. Children and teens will be able to cast their vote for their favorite books, author, and illustrator at bookstores, school libraries, and online until May 3, 2010. 15,500 children and teens from around the US spent months reading and evaluating books submitted by publishers. The five favorite books published in 2009 in each of these categories are open for a nation-wide vote in March and April 2009 in each of four grade categories: K-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, and Teen as well as Favorite Author, and Favorite Illustrator. The winner in each category will be named at a gala during Children's Book Week on May 11th, 2010 in New York City as part of Children's Book Week (May 10-16, 2010), the oldest national literacy event in the United States.

Book Readers Heaven - Have You Noticed?

Some of you may have noticed that I've started writing about books again. But I am not now accepting nor will I return to reviewing books on request. You will perhaps see that has allowed me to write more opinionated thoughts about read books... For instance, I might compare the writing of another author...or just allude to the type of book and how I respond to the topic.And, when appropriate, especially for political books, I use relevant news videos to document what is being said in the post. If I do post as a review, I will not be posting the entire blog article on sales sites. I hope you like hearing my personal thoughts more often and hope you will let me know what you think of the change, the expansion beyond a basic review... Insofar as possible, I try to bring together relevant videos or music that speaks to the issue, or which I've been led to use... In all things, now, I am about my Father's Business. I Speak Jesus--of His Love for all and of His Truth... Comments are always welcomed and will be treated with respect...
