Friend, Regis Auffray Just Posted New Poem - I Was Happy - Added Another To Share Two! A Gathering of One - Enjoy!

A Gathering of One

On a winter afternoon
Silver dusk comes early

He sits in front of the gas fireplace
He loves its insipid soothing hiss

He sips mellow red wine
From a glass that reflects the flames
The wine seems alive somehow
It warms his soul
Like a fond memory

He’s turned off the lights
So he can see the shadows dance
Upon the wall
So he is not alone

He greets his ghostly guests
One by one

It’s pleasantly distracting
To welcome each with rhyme

“Long time no see, Chelsea.
Love that machine, Nadine.
Is that leather, Heather?
Nice Lexus, Alexis.
How’s the divorce, Horace?
You’re looking dandy, Andy.
I need a lawyer, Sawyer.
I’m looking for a loan, Malone.
How’s Cassandra, Sandra?”
And on and on until
He grows weary of doing all the talking

Outside the darkness is complete

He bids his guests a good night
And as he dozes off
Before the friendly flames
He wonders why
The shadows yet dance upon the wall
After he thought his ghostly friends
Had bid him adieu for the night

And all is still

I Was Happy

I was familiar
with joy
I was intimate
with happiness
when birds sang
flowers bloomed
sun shone and warmed
rain refreshed and cooled
children played with carefree abandon
I was one of them
moon rose and silver lined
the night
with love and light
skylarks soared
come the morn
wild creatures
went about their way
delightfully
the sea sighed
in sweet serenity
swishing the shore
of golden sand
in tune
with the lilt of the breeze
caressing our presence
the fullness of it all
enchanging us

All was well
when you were with me

It is still all fine
all well in the waiting
for that glowing ember of hope
to set our lives ablaze
with love unrestrained

Guest Poet, Regis Auffray Shares Absence (Haiku String) And Abandoned: God You would Not believe it if I told you...

https://www.vecteezy.com/

Absence
(Haiku String)

When the winter wind
Stirs through the dark barren trees
It whispers of you

I can barely breathe
When your picture comes upon
The screen of my mind

Unavoidably
When someone mentions your name
I lose a heartbeat

I can scarce believe
How empty my world appears
Without you in it

In another realm
In dreams when I speak with you
You give me purpose

Now in the darkness
It is easy to fathom
The light that you shined

In humility
I admit my lack of strength
Without your presence

It's hard not to fall
In the void you left behind
When you had to leave

There is not a time
When I do not think of you
Know this is the truth

My friend I miss you
There is emptiness within
Each passing moment

The absence of you
Is a constant throbbing ache
Deep within my soul

I shall not be healed
Until we can meet again
Our friendship confirmed

God... You would not believe it if I told you.

Abandoned

it’s all empty now
this house that used to be
a home
it stares at passers-by
dark eyes
from empty window frames
sometimes
shards of glass
in the grass
glisten like tears
in midday sunlight
midnight moonlight
sometimes
voices come from within
could be ghosts
or just the wind
moaning and hurting
yes there’s an aching
palpable
like a bruised
and battered heart
a broken soul
it’s all empty
those who know
know it’s all because
she went back
on her word

Easter - Time For Peace
 (rhyming acrostic)

Early dawn and the stillness
Awakens within a brightness
Silence is deceptive
The Earth is receptive
Every soul yearns for healing
Reeling from eons of ill feeling

The time is now for peace
It is time for wars to cease
May we at last become as one
Every being become golden

For far too long the Earth has bled
Over millennia peace has fled
Reject old ways and pave the way

Put all your enmities away
Embrace the possibilities
Accept the bounty of beauties
Creation has so long offered
Eternity has now proffered

Overview

Poetry, like other forms of creative arts such as painting, music, sculpture etc. is a way for the poet to share life experiences - feelings, emotions, images - and thus express his or her personality. Most human beings (Earthians) have a desire to be with others and one of the ways this is done is through communication by whatever means are available. Poetry is one way of expressing one's self.

The poems in this book offer glimpses into the poet's soul. They touch on a myriad of themes that are common to all who have undertaken the journey through this particular life in this place known as Earth.

It is the author's hope that the reader will be able to identify with, to understand and perhaps to empathize with the various situations, dilemmas, conflicts, miseries, euphoria etc. that are shared by means of his verses.

Glimpses is the author's first poetry collection of a non-limerick genre.

Ongoing Contributor, Regis Auffray, Presents Poetic Words! Guitar Woman and the Moon - Also well know for his Limericks -Here's Two!

Guitar Woman and the Moon

she plays her guitar
to the stars, she is a star
her voice angelic

she strums and the moon
looks down and smiles approval
swept into her swoon

she elicits love
with her magical music
a gift of healing

A Lady Named Rose

I once met a lady named Rose,
Who was nude from her nose to her toes;
So I took her downtown,
And bought her a gown,
Even though she despises clothes.

Backpacking With Sigourney

When I was backpacking through Fernie,

I met a lady named Sigourney;

She is a swell gal,

She’s become my pal,

She has now joined me on my journey.

Thanks so much for visiting today, Regis! When I was pulling up your pic to use, I discovered these two intriguing videos...The first is a narrated dance of leaves with poetic words. The last is a non-verbal video telling its own story... Finding words all around you, I am grateful to know you...

Ongoing Poetry Contributor, Regis Auffray, Shares "Oxeye Maids" and "Don't Be Sorry, Lauri" - Take a Break! Enjoy!

Oxeye Maids

A splash of daisies
A gift from the Creator
And Mother Nature

In behind my home
On the side of the mountain
A bevy of oxeyes

They appeared one day
Seemingly out of nowhere
Now grace the landscape

Such pretty daisies
She loves me she loves me not
Swaying in the breeze

Don’t Be Sorry, Lauri...

Don’t be sorry, Lauri
Lauri, don’t you worry.

Read the message in the bottle,
I’m coming to you at full throttle.

Take the message from the pigeon,
On the stream, from the widgeon.

In the sky, behold the swallow,
In your sorrow, do not wallow.

I’m coming to you, Lauri;
Sailing in my dory.

I am sending you a dove,
As a symbol of my love.

The sea is a little wild,
A bit like an untrained child.

I can almost see our home,
Through the waves’ frothy sea foam.

Your candle shines a bright light,
In this dark and stormy night.

Never worry, Lauri;
We will live our story.

I will hold you in my arms,
Gladly succumb to your charms.

Thanks so much for sharing today, Regis... Hope you don't mind my adding two videos on a somewhat sad, but still quite interesting song about Lauri, and  subsequent video created for the old song...

I always enjoy your poetic, thoughtful words!

God Bless
Gabby

Regis Auffray Presents His Latest Thoughts and Poetry - Dandelions - Together Just for Fun - The Music Inspired by and Natural Experience of The Plant

A couple of haiku in honour of the dandelion.
😎☀
The Dandelion
Every part is edible
And good for the health
Ubiquitous plant
A symbol of survival
The dandelion

~ Regis

The Dandelion

The dandelion is the only flower
representing the three celestial bodies,
the sun, the moon, and the stars.
The yellow flower resembles the sun,
the puff ball resembles the moon,
and the dispersing seeds resemble the stars.
The dandelion flower opens
to greet the morning and closes
in the evening to go to sleep.
Every part of the dandelion is useful:
root, leaves, flower.
It can be used for food, medicine,
and dye for coloring.
Up until the 1800s,
people would pull grass out of their lawns
to make room for dandelions and other useful “weeds” like chickweed, malva, and chamomile.
The name dandelion is taken from the French word “dent de lion” meaning lion’s tooth,
referring to the coarsely-toothed leaves.
Dandelions have one of the longest
flowering seasons of any plant.
Dandelion seeds are often
transported away by a gust of wind
as they travel like tiny parachutes.
Seeds are often carried
as many as five miles from their origin!
Birds, insects, and butterflies
consume nectar or seeds of dandelion.
Honey from bees
pollinating dandelions
is quite delicious.
Dandelion flowers
do not need to be pollinated
to form seeds.
The root of the dandelion
can be used as a substitute for coffee.
The dandelion is used
in folk medicine to treat
infections and liver disorders.
Tea made of dandelion
acts as a diuretic.
If you know dandelions,
they’ll grow shorter stalks to spite you.
Dandelions are quite possibly
the most successful plants that exist.
They are masters of survival worldwide.

Happy New Year by Poet Extraordinaire Regis Auffray With Musical Accompaniment

Happy New Year!

A troublesome year

Two thousand and twenty-three

In so many ways

In these troubled times

It is hard to concentrate

On the positive

The white dove of peace

Chased by the eagle of war

Finds no place to land

Perhaps one can find

Through the portal of one’s soul

Some semblance of peace

When I was a child

The concepts of war and peace

Never crossed my mind

It appears to me

The stairway to heaven is

In need of repairs

Throughout history

Precious peace has been on hold

While Man wages war

Another new year

Yet again peace eludes us

As conflict prevails

While most understand

The futility of war

The latter yet thrives

 It seems redundant

The same wishes every year

For peace and healing

Wishes from the heart

Expressed over millennia

Ever more needed

The new year is here

It seems only yesterday

I was doing this

Wishing friends and family

And every being on Earth

A Happy New Year
