Come Meet Becca the Bat! Visiting Book Readers Heaven With Her New Hat!

 Yes, it's me! I thought since I'm going to tell you about a bat with a hat that I would show you mine! Especially in the winter, I wear it all the time, but, mostly, I wear it like a night cap to keep my head warm in my somewhat wind-blown cabin...

Do you wear a hat? What kind?

You do like mine, don't you? Oh, don't mind Charlie...he's not happy to be modeling my cap for you, but, then, he's got a lot more fur (hair) to keep him warm!

Anyway, today, Tim Zak is sharing his story about a bat with a hat. No, it's not like mine, it's much prettier, but probably not as warm...

The Bat Who Lost Her Hat

By Tim Zak

I imagine that Becca the Bat must have one day saw somebody wearing a hat, perhaps for the Easter Parade! And she loved the "look" and wanted to get a hat too... She went shopping and found that special hat. It fit just right, even staying on when she flew upside down!
Becca had found her hat and loved it so much that she wore it so that all her friends could see it!

Becca is a cute little bat,
who loved wearing her pink hat.
Becca would fly when it was dark
She loved to go down to the park.

Her friends were hanging in a tree,

She took her hat for them to see.
!!!

Tim Zak has created a delightful, fun pre-school nursery rhyme series that is bound to attract the attention of young children. Each book uses a small animal that can be used as introductions to the child. In addition each has something that teaches through the actions of that character. For instance, when Becca woke up one morning, she didn't have her hat on like she always did!

She immediately started the Blame Game, first blaming her brother and then all her friends as she flew around trying to find who had taken it. She knew that everybody else had said they loved her hat, so she had automatically assumed that somebody had stolen it!

What do you think happened when she later found her hat at home?!!

As you can see how the cover and the two page samples, the pages are beautifully created with the words directly on the page of the picture, which I personally, prefer. I viewed the ebook on both Kindle Fire and on the computer screen in full-color and recommend if you have the Fire, you choose that format. The colors are brilliant and true to life and the character, Becca, is center of the page so that she will soon be immediately recognized by children.

These are wonderful books to start your child toward reading enjoyment. I'll be sharing a couple more from this wonderful author soon.  Highly recommended!

Brooks Olbrys Second Adventure of Blue Ocean Bob Is Terrific Fun and Sometimes Dangerous...While Learning...

And did you ever think that Bob
would be called upon to...Seal Sit?!!!
Soooo, I'm sharing right away
That I switched to my Fire
To read this second book
of The Adventures of Bob...
And I'm very glad to say,
that if your child is using a reader these days
Then the color and message
is quite fine for reading
I still like the book to hold
But do feel free to choose,
'Cause both are highly recommended
And I simply have to say
I'd share with all kids... any day!

Bob had a mentor, Miss Mary Marine,
the finest sea expert his island had seen.
But she didn't mince words, "We've a promise to keep.
We must help a young seal learn to feed in the deep."

"The deep?" answered Bob. "I've been there in my boat,
And once on a dolphin--it's pretty remote!"

"Good training," said Mary. "So now you'll jump in
To help Kody feed, you must join her and swim.
But since you're unsure about your contribution
I suggest you see Doc. He will have a solution."

Doc was a turtle and Mary's close friend.
On Doc's trusted wisdom, young Bob could depend...

The Adventures of
Blue Ocean Bob:
A Challenging Job

By Brooks Olbrys
 Illustrated by Kevin Keele

Bob is now working for Mary Marine and his first job is to baby sit...well, actually, much more than that. You see Kody's mother had become very tired and needed to rest, but still need to have her baby trained to eat. The only thing is that Kody was afraid of the deep water where the seals routinely fed. A very important need to be met...
Then Doc said, "To teach well,
you must first learn a lot. For
how can you give what you
haven't yet got? You are a fine
swimmer, Bob. That you hav3e
shown. You just need some time
in the sea on your own. So go
snorkel out and don't rush back
too soon. For the training you
need, you must leave his lagoon.
And when you return, you can
do so with pride. You'll have
learned confidence comes from
inside."
~~~
But Bob had never gone into the deep water either--now he was being called upon to teach somebody else to do so... What to do?
A major point for me is that the book has been written to let Bob know that it is alright to be afraid and to be fearful you can't do what has been asked of you. What do you think Doc did to help Bob meet this new challenge?
Well, he got through that ordeal, but what if you mess up? (And he sure did?) And he got someone in trouble!
It sailed past its mark
and continued to fly
'til it landed on Beck.
...It seems you've
confused me with all
the debris! Get rid of
this net, please and
let me fly free!
You see he was supposed to help clean up debris and he was given a net to throw into the sea... But when he and Zena threw the net...they didn't see who sat below! And now he was entangled and couldn't free himself!
Well, instead of immediately helping poor Beck, Bob started arguing and blaming Zena and she did just the same! But finally they stopped and started running for help and came upon Earl who instead of suggesting how to help, immediately gave some sage advice:
"Slow down there, my friend! I would like to help. But what I remember when caught in the kelp, is to solve any problem, don't look to the past. You have to stop blaming and take action fast. Be willing to own any part you have played, and see if apologies need to be made. This challenge is face holds a lesson for living, when you're responsible, fair, and forgiving...
But still there was a problem to solve! Do you have any suggestions? Then he saw Cathy and ran to her, asking for help... What do you think? Cathy's just a girl, right? How can she help???
The next emergency was that Ray  had got caught under the sea and couldn't free herself! Bob's work never stopped and this time he'd need help in the rescue! Who would you ask to help you go into the ocean to find a scared stingray?!
But then a really big emergency that affected everybody came! A large storm was coming and everybody needed to be told! Can Bob handle this final assignment for the day?! Bob went out to help...but could he get back to shore?!
Bob was getting depressed, considering all that he had gotten into. There had been many who had depended totally on him! Had he made a wrong choice? Should he rethink his plans...He had much to consider after today...
Ok, I've fallen in love with these wise sea creatures! And the humans are flawed just like us... So all of us has much we can learn in this second book! It's not always an adventure when someone is or could be in danger...You have to be special to be Blue Ocean Bob...
Enjoy this one! It is the most animated of the three while the other two are more about learning. Bob always goes into a task, thinking he's prepared. Sometimes he is; sometimes he isn't...But it never is wrong to ask for help...
Highly recommended
Carole P. Roman Uses Rhyming Words to Take Children on Rocket Ride!
Climb aboard to travel far,
soar above the trees
The moon glows brightly as we pass its smile
and head into the breeze.
UP, UP, AND AWAY!
We rise as if we ride a wave;
the air is still and clear.
We hold onto our rocket ship
but strangely feel no fear.
Carole Roman is always taking children somewhere and this time it's just for fun!
Well, we'll learn a little along the way but can't you just imagine having your own rocket ship - and saying Bye to earth for a little while?! I can! I've flown in an airplane but never all the way into space...I say, let's go!
Note that these pictures are substituted...and no where near as beautifully done as that Illustrated by Mateya Arkova.  Kudos for choosing brilliant colors to brighten our day and done in such a way that we seem to be flying! Way Cool! And Carole Roman has taken time to write lovely poetic rhymes that are swirled into the air as if the words are following us in the rocket! I loved this creative, all-together attention-getting storybook. Kids will too!
Rocket--Bye
By Carole P. Roman
Illustrated by Mateya Arkova
Leaving earth below, the children first take in the milky way--is that where the candy bar is made, I wonder...*
The Milky Way beckons us closer,
so we travel to its call.
Carole has created a round-the-world space trip with her fun, lively words like "romp past Venus" or "catch a glimpse of Mars's red glow."
She even tells us to dance a jig on somebody's tail and then wave at Leo the lion...Really, if I didn't have the illustrations to follow, I'd be totally lost finding my way!
Moving on to other planets is great and we even got to ride the rings of Saturn...
We ride the rings of Saturn,
on the rocket ship we share.
Because of the subject--learning about our heavens--this book is surely of interest to all children, but the pictures are aimed for the younger child who is excitedly playing with the rocket ship and then heading to bed when back home... This is a delightful book that promises to get your child involved with the pictures and later when he/she can read! My recommendation would be for the paperback to keep in your children's library or a ebook in color... Highly recommended to all!
OMG! The Sun Has Disappeared! Check out Children's Book by Geena Bean! Outstanding Message!
It was a quiet young morning,
Gloomy, with a sky that clearly missed the sun.
My little sister still dreaming.
And our father returning from his run.
"Daddy!" I yelled as I ran down the stairs.
"Mattie is asleep, and I am still scared.
It's been too long since we have seen the sun,
And I grow tired of waiting for her to come...
"Don't worry, Kaylee, she will appear.
I can feel it; I'm sure she will be here.
But for now,  let's allow the moon his time
While we wait for the sun to come back and shine
I quickly ran up the stairs to wake up Mattie.
I knew she would understand my pain.
My sister was just as tired as I
Of all of this newfound darkness and rain
Come Back Dear Sun:
Your Friends, Kaylee, Mattie, Lilly, and Fran
By Geena Bean
Illustrated by Cheri Webber
This may be the best, most impressive children's book I've ever read. I believe it is an important book that should be read by children...and adults alike! The latter even more so! Bean has taken an important topic that I, too, am concerned about and has created, with the help of Cheri Webber, a beautifully told contemporary fairy tale of what could happen in today's world...  As with most fairy tales, the moral of the story is so very, very important!
Here's a related video about the importance of playing outside...
Have you ever considered what it would be like to not have the sun providing us light and all its loving benefits? Well, one day the sun was talking to the moon and told him how unhappy she was. You see, nobody was ever coming out to play and work in the sun anymore. She was lonely and feeling unappreciated! So she had decided to move somewhere else to see if the people would come out to be with her wherever she wound up...
Fortunately she had at least told the moon about her feelings...
Because there was one little girl that was missing the sun so much! Sure she loved the moon just as much as the sun, but she had always loved to be outside during the day, having the sun help her enjoy the day. Many of her friends were always staying inside...playing stupid games or watching television. She not only had more fun outside, but knew from her parents that it was very important for them to run around playing games, keeping their growing bodies active. Kids today were becoming what they even called "couch potatoes."
"Mattie," I whispered. "Are you asleep?
I have a plan that may seem a bit steep.
We need rope, a bow and arrow, and two cups,
So we can talk to the moon; are you up?"
~~~

But Kaylie wasn't the type to continue to wait for the sun, even though she believed her Dad when he said the sun would be back. She had an idea, though, that just might work and help bring the beautiful sun back!

Children will love finding out what happens, especially when the moon gets involved! You see, he admitted that he was getting very tired having to be available 24/7! Wouldn't you?! Now there was another issue covered in the book besides the need to be out in the sun for exercise...

Do you know any children who have become too involved with all electronic gadgets so that they must have the latest phones so that they can text all day, even in school? Do they love electronic games and would spend all day playing the latest if they could? Well, obviously, the Sun would never see these children, would they?  If children spend all their time texting to friends or playing games inside, well, can you blame the sun for leaving?!

Especially this time of year when dark comes much earlier, I begin to feel the loss of the sun... I do miss her beautiful bright warmth and already am wishing for Spring to come again...  Now you all know that I spend a lot of time on the computer in order to write my blog...and I also sit and read a lot... Well, I was trying to read so many books, that I forgot to take care of myself... Now I'm walking, working a little outside doing this and that and making sure my day is once again balanced for my physical and mental health...
Don't let your children lose their joy and energy to play...We all must learn this on our own and this book makes so much sense without being judgmental or critical.  Help children understand that the Sun is their friend and wants to spend time with them... If not, you'll never see her smile and be there for you everyday! Even the Sun loves this gentle reminder, I imagine, and promises to stay as long as there are children everywhere who love to see her each day!

This story is totally poetic verse with full-page colored scenes supporting the story. In a different area, having the main little girl think up how to solve the problem is an excellent way to show how to be creative without saying a word!

Do check this book out...Help your children live a healthy, well-nourished life. My Mom was a working mother, as many women are these days...I know that my weight came during those formative years...It's a constant battle. But the Sun is so bright, shiny, and helpful in enjoying outdoor sports... This just might be a must-read for some of your children... And an entertaining story as well!

In 2003, I graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in English. While attending Rutgers, my favorite lectures concentrated on Creative Writing, Poetry and English Literature. Some of my most memorable moments of inspiration and creativity came not only from my professors, but also from the character and beauty of the campus itself.

Since graduation, I have been busy writing stories and working in the nanny industry. That’s right everyone! I am your very own, modern day Mary Poppins! Well, not quite. I don’t have magical powers, nor can I pull furniture out of my suitcase. But I can make my stories become real through the use of…you got it! My imagination! Over the past 10 years, I have used my experiences with children to create wonderous stories and tales of discovery. When we are not too busy fighting off pirates on old, rusty ships, or escaping from the doom of some deserted island where those wicked pirates have hidden us away from our parents, we are saving the world; one imagination at a time!

Since publishing my first children’s book, I have worked alongside with organizations such as United Way, Leap on Bullying and groups like the Boys and Girls Club in Newark, New Jersey. I’ve visited many schools throughout New Jersey and have done author events at both smaller and larger venues. I love volunteering and working with kids across the tri-state area while helping to sculpt and inspire their goals, creativity, unique talents, and most importantly, kindness and appreciation toward each other and the world around them.

I have been waiting for the right moment to put everything together into published works, and Come Back Dear Sun is the first book made available to each and every child and adult around the world. When I’m not busy writing, I am creating colossal deserts and meals in the kitchen for my wonderful family and friends. They each have an equally weak spot for my cooking as well as my restless thoughts and envisioning. When my niece, Kayle, is on vacation from school, she usually comes to visit me here in the mountains of northern New Jersey. If we are not too busy making up silly stories or baking even sillier deserts, you can find us down by the beach or catching up on our movie classics, popcorn and pajama parties. I also love to do a lot of traveling, reading and anything adventurous such as scuba diving and zip-lining through rain forests and mountains.

As an author, one of the most important things that I have learned is that we should never let go of our dreams. No dream is ever too big, and if you work hard and always stay true to yourself and what makes you stand out among others, then anything is possible. We are all different and unique, and each one of us is capable of achieving anything we put our mind, dedication, heart, and imagination to. You can, and you will become the person that you set out to be. Don’t forget to read and write along the way. Books are bursting with colors; illuminating the endless thoughts, curiosity and craving that the mind seeks!

As you dream big and set out to reach for those stars, always remember to be compassionate and courteous toward one another. We must remember and never forget that it is our duty as human beings to always show acts of kindness toward one another. Work together and share your talents, thoughts and creativity with each other. Not only am I here to give you the best possible stories that I can, but I’m also here as a mentor and guide. Please feel free to ask me any questions, and I will try and give you advice to the best of my ability. I’m always happy to help!
