Paul M. Kramer Provides Children's Book on Sensitive Subject... Grandma Went to Heaven...Coming Soon!

Grandmother's Love - Cynthia Snider

A GRANDMA'S LOVE

 A love that has no limits
 a love that’s always there
A love that is never ending,
a love beyond compare.
Someone you can laugh with,
someone you can tell your secrets to.
Someone who will protect
and keep you safe,
someone who will always love you.
Caring and forgiving,
 no matter what you’ve done.
 Patient and understanding,
for you’re her loving
granddaughter or grandson.

Grandma Went to Heaven

Written by Paul M. Kramer
Illustrated by Helda Tacke

Over the Christmas and New Year holidays, we lost the grandfather in my sister's family (my brother-in-law) and I suffered with his grandchildren as they faced the loss of their loved one. I remembered when my mother died and, though different children, due to the timing of the deaths, the emotional turmoil for my nieces and nephews was very real, especially for those who had lived and been close to Mom...

Paul Kramer seems to know the topics that are or could be emotionally troubling or deeply felt by children and he tackles each one with love and care so that his readers can use his books to help--in this case--in a time of grief. You may recall another hard subject was covered by Kramer in Jenny, Cancer Survivor. While his books do not overtly talk about God, it is clear to readers, that he shares God's love as he writes to our children on matters of emotional importance. I applaud Paul for his great efforts!

I love my Grandma very, very much.
I’m so sorry she had to leave.
She wasn’t with me long enough
...
~~~
One immediate attribute you will quickly see is that Paul and Helga, his illustrator, pick bold beautiful colors to complement the story. They are warm and glow with heavenly love to envelope the children as they deal with a heavy subject like death. I can almost guarantee that any reader who has had a close relationship with a grandparent will feel tears of remembrance as they share this book with a beloved grandchild.
The poem above closes out the book, but each page is also rhyming words, easily read and meaning grasped. They provide wonderful memory triggers so that the child may begin to recognize that they will always have those memories of loving times, even though Grandma is now gone.
The book mentions about having secrets between the child and grandparent, memories of playing games together, protecting him when he became afraid, making his favorite foods, and reading books to him before bedtime...
The book makes it quite obvious that the child felt safe with Grandma, even when his parents weren't around. And isn't that the most important thing--helping the child feel safe, even in the face of having a loved one no longer be readily there in his life.
Thinking about my grandma
sometimes makes me want to cry.
I feel better when I realize
she’ll always be with me.
For In my heart, she’ll never die.
                         ~~~
I know my grandma will be watching over me.
I’m so lucky to have had her as my grandma.
She will live forever in my memory.
~~~
I believe this is the perfect book for a child, at the appropriate time. It may be sometime when Grandma is sick and the parents want to prepare the child. Or it may be later...  But I believe sincerely it will help children in their loss.  My niece called last night and I quickly told her she had to give herself time to grieve. Children grieve too, but may not fully understand what death means, or know how to express their feelings. A book might be just what is needed so that parents can talk to their child and help them remember all the love and good times shared with Grandma...
A must-read, when needed...
Everyday Can be Like Christmas...Paul Kramer Shares His latest Poetic Thoughts...
EVERYDAY CAN BE LIKE CHRISTMAS
Christmas is about faith and love of family
It’s synonymous with giving
One of the best gifts you can give yourself or another
Is your willingness to be forgiving
Every day you awaken is a blessing
A cause for joy and celebration
Fill it with compassion, positivity, and humility
Give unconditionally without expectation
Search for your inner rainbow
Christmas is about good cheer
Celebrate that you are alive
Christmas and everyday of the year
The Woman at the Well has always been One of my Favorites for Solo...
Directed, edited and filmed by Reidland Tucker.
FUEL
Food is fuel for the body
Memories are the fuel for the blind
Hope is fuel for the needy
Knowledge is the fuel for the mind
Faith is the fuel for trust
Lack of trust is the fuel for fear
The heart is fueled by love
Enlightenment is fueled by prayer
April Poet Contributor, Also Children's Author, Paul M. Kramer, Shares Latest--Jenny, Cancer Survivor--to be Published Soon!II
Hi, my name is Jennifer, but most people call me Jenny. I enjoy taking long walks and playing outdoors in the sun. It’s been a while since I’ve been this happy and had so much fun. I love my school where I’ m currently in the 5th grade. I wear my hair in a ponytail and I also wear it in a braid
I’ve learned to realize that we shouldn’t take our lives for granted and to
appreciate each and every day. I was very sick during the entire year that I was nine. Today I am so pleased to say that I am extremely healthy and I feel fine.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my story. It’s one of sadness, but also of hope, faith and glory.
Jenny - Cancer Survivor
By Paul M. Kramer
Illustrated by  Helga Tacke
What individual would not fall in love with Jenny and automatically begin to send up prayers for her. Jenny was just nine when the doctors discovered she had cancer. Isn't it wonderful that advances have been made so that we can now meet and be grateful for those who have become survivors...
Jenny is one of those. This is her story... It's pretty scary to see what she goes through, but I asked the publisher to permit me to share many of the fantastic illustrations showing Jenny's year-long struggle... If I were a doctor who worked with child cancer patients, I would want to give this as a gift to every single child - where there is hope, there is a chance that that child too would become a survivor! Parents and relatives - a must-read for you. But let's not forget children who do not have cancer. Illness can touch each of us; cancer is not the only problem that we all may face. This book, as Jenny says, is not only about sadness of not being well, but is filled with hope, faith and glory! And everybody needs to be filled by such feelings, especially during bad times...
I had cancer but now I am totally cancer free. It’s hard to imagine anyone in your family actually having cancer, especially you. It seems to be other people in other families that bad things happen to. If you’ve never had cancer or another serious illness, I hope you never do. If you have, I hope you, like me, are a survivor too.
~~~

I must commend the illustrator for this book. The selections of colors, the choices of pictures and characters have been brilliantly chosen and created. That alone gives a feeling of joy to those who have the opportunity to read this book! Kudos to Helga Tacke...

The book came as an ebook; however, there was no loss of how the entire layout of the story has been meticulously done to complement the author's--and Jenny's story. Impressive, indeed!

The story is written in first person and all readers will feel her fear as she realizes that there was something wrong and then move forward into the unknown of going to see a doctor, to be in the hospital, and to...be in pain...

Dr. Armstead told my mother he believed I had Leukemia, which is a form of cancer.
To be absolutely sure a bone marrow test that confirmed I did have cancer was taken.
I had hoped it was just a bad dream that would turn out to be a big mistake when I awakened.
If diagnosed early enough curing cancer has an excellent success rate. My parents could not believe or accept this was going to be my fate.

The next couple of weeks I didn’t feel better, I felt worse.I was pale and weak, my hair was falling out, I had a temperature and I wasn’t okay. My joints hurt, I was losing weight and my fever wasn’t going away. My mother and father took care of me and read to me every day. I knew they were worried because sometimes I would see them pray...

The next day my mother and father lovingly told me I was going to get well. I couldn’t understand why this was happening to me, and wow did I cry. What ran through my head was what it would feel like if I were to die.
That evening I was visited by two angels who assured me that I would be alright. I was grateful for their visit and slept soundly the rest of the night.

Although it was never said outright, it was obvious that Jenny and her family were depending upon God to help Jenny through her ordeal. Do you think it is important to share God with your children in the event of illness?

Soon Jenny made a friend whose name was Paige...and they had the same desire...to have their new friend be healed...

Don't you want to know what happens! I sure did! Consider this a must-read! Do check it out!

Spending Time with Paul M. Kramer during National Poetry Month...

Let Go Of Anger

Anger doesn’t commingle with love.
Animosity and hostility are roads to depression.
Peace and serenity are not born out of fury.
Harboring resentment leads to aggression.

Let go of old grudges and past resentment.
Unclog any malice in your heart.
A huge sense of relief will flow in and through you.
Forgiveness will allow you a fresh new start.

Laughter and happiness will return,
with more intensity than before.
You’ll be able to think with more clarity.
Without anger, love can blossom and soar.

Paul M Kramer

ANXIETY

Shallow breathing, watery eyes,
blurred vision, traumatized.
Wanting to run, wanting to hide,
going in circles, cannot decide.

Repetitive thoughts, cannot sit still,
repetitive thoughts, feeling ill.
Fear of the truth, fear of being alone,
fear of fearing the unknown.

Afraid of heights, afraid to fly,
afraid of crashing, afraid to die.
Being closed in, no way out,
breaking into a sweat, panic and doubt.

Let go of your anxiety, you have had your share;
turn it over to God, release your fear.

BORN NAKED AND EQUAL

You are not any better than anyone else.
No one else is any better than you.
You have the right to be who you are,
You are worthy and deserving in all that you do.

You need never be ashamed.
You were chosen through the process of birth.
You are not inferior to anyone.
Naked and equal everyone entered this earth.

Some had less fortunate beginnings.
Some had more challenges than others.
Many had to overcome constant obstacles.
Many grew up without fathers or mothers.

We are all children of the universe.
Our existence we need not justify.
Be not afraid to stand straight and tall,
then look everyone right in the eye.

Paul M. Kramer Says "Don't Worry, be Happy..." and More...during National Poetry Month...

WORRY
Agonizing and obsessing over what ifs,
a pessimistic state of mind,
dwelling upon what may or may not happen,
fearing possibilities of every kind.

Worry is the brother and sister of anxiety.
Creating apprehension, uneasiness and stress,
worry causes us to be ill at ease,
it is an inhibitor of joy and happiness.

Worry knows no optimism.
It’s not a necessity or a requirement.
We need not choose to embrace it.
Do not let it diminish the quality of our life.

 “Don’t worry, be happy”

Come Spend Easter With Me, Listening to Hymns I've Always Loved - Featuring Poetry by Paul M. Kramer

Mixed (Family B) clouds over Santa Clarita, CA
Cirrus uncinus and Cirrus spissatus over Swift...
English: Cumulus humilis clouds in the foregro...
Believe Or Do Not Believe

You can choose to believe that you’re not worthy or deserve happiness.
You can choose to see clouds where others see sunshine.
You can choose to believe that the glass is half empty.
That we live only once and no more,
that after our death, there’s only nothingness.

You can choose to believe that your glass is half full,
that God is real and that God is true.
You can choose to believe,
that you indeed have a soul,
that you are more than just a body,
that your spirit will remain forever whole.

You can choose to believe or not to believe.

Paul M Kramer

A FRESH NEW START

Once again you have awakened.
Be grateful for this day.
Let go of needless worry.
Turn negative thoughts away.

View the world more optimistically.
Open the channels of your mind.
New and wonderful experiences await you.
Leave old regrets behind.

For today is a new beginning,
a brand new fresh start.
The past is yesterday’s news
Today you can choose love to fill your heart.

BEYOND THE CLOUDS

Clouds are born to bring us water necessary for us to survive.
They were not created to rain on our parade.
Eventually the rain does stop and the clouds dissipate.
Clearly enabling us to see and feel the glory of the sun.
Above the clouds there is nothing but clear skies.
A place filled with sunshine, love and beauty.

Let us not let clouds dampen our spirits, or depress us.
Confusion and doubt can cloud our vision.
The clouds in our minds are sometimes so thick we lose our direction.
Let our faith open our minds and see through our self-induced clouds.

Unconditional love and goodness abides within us.
Faith is cloud-free and will bring us clarity.
With clarity there is joy and happiness.
Without clarity there are clouds, fear and uncertainty.
